Hi all, I'm trying to obtain some sounds similar to the ones contained in this track:

The granular sounds with a stutter property like from 0:27, and the ones with a "water-like"/liquid character from 0:50 (although you'll find plenty of examples over the duration) are the specific ones but in general, I'm interested in all the granular clouds used.
So far I'm experimenting with Inertia Sound System Granuliser, but I feel it is not the right tool.

Any suggestions on tools/effects/VSTs/techniques, FX chains, and material with which to feed the process will be much appreciated!

Maybe you are more into the character of FFT processing, like the free DtBlkFX? Also look into feedback-loops and pitch shifter (in the loop).

I made this with feedback loops + pitch shifters (only). The original triggering sounds were of me taking a shit/dump, taking a piss and rattling my key-chain. No granular processing per se:

GlitchMachines offers two free glitch/stutter plugins (Fracture & Hysteresis) [and a bunch of paid options].

Sugar Bytes Effectrix is a more controlled option if GlitchMachines stuff is too random. Illformed Glitch is very similar. Version 1 is free but not available for 64 bit. SEQS for Reaper (Sequenced FX) is pretty fun to mess with too, also very similar.

I think this would be a pretty good situation to actually figure out what method he did these with. it might help learn the synth because you would have a reference to use. The program you have mentioned Inertia Sound System Granuliser may be great, but it's apparent release date was in 2018; and the last posted material from the artist you linked was from 2016. So, it may work great; but it is almost definitely different approach. What about Reaktor?

It's a fun logic loop though, starting out with the wrong thing trying to copy another; and then trying to figure out how to fix it when it doesn't turn out the same way. Your simple question may actually be more like the equivalent of how do you make your Tesla sound like a Ferrari. that some guy put together one 100$ part at a time. by hand.

What one thinks is a granular plugin is often a sample in loop mode in a sampler with its loop window being very short, and the loop position being modulated/automated. This is atleast what i hear. Could be done with a granular plugin too, but its an overkill plus you tend to use more than one 'granules' and you lose the nice transients that you can hear this loop has. Granular is better imo for cloudy pad sounds etc.
