so i have USB monitors one part of them connect straight to laptop, but they also have this adaptor thing that connects to the wall plug thing.....

is there a way to connect an adaptor/plug thing to a car?

i wanted to check how it sounds in my car as compared to my untreated room

 

You will usually get the best Impulse Response if you connect them directly to the battery. If you use water, you will get cleaner sound.

 

You will need an inverter thing that makes 110 Volt from your car battery (or 230 Volt, depending on were your thingy is at).

so i'll need to have the front part of the car open connect wires to the battery and then bring them inside the car?

Why not just buy a long extention mains lead, then plug your USB adapter in there.

Yes, but the device you show seems to light. If you take the power draw of a commonly used KRK Rokit 7 monitor, it uses 145 W per speaker, so that's <300 W - times 2, needs a 600 Watt inverter.
True, if you park your car in front of the house, you don't need no inverter, just a long power cord and USB extender.

I should also mention that it doesn't make much sense to put studio monitors in a car.
It won't compare to the car sound you know from door-mounted car speakers.

i live in a rented flat and not even staying in 1 flat i move around and can't bother to do that

 

I don't really get what your trying to do? but there are 3 ways you can run the KRK monitors in your car.

1. Buy a DC power inverter and connect it to your car battery or power distribution unit, you may want to get a profesional mechanic to do it. you can then run your speakers from the inverter as it will provide power similar to the standard plug in your house. Just remeber if its powered direct from the battery it will run the battery flat if left on, as it will opperate still when the cars is turned off.

2. Forget about powered speakers and look for a good set of passive monitors. Was it KRK Root 6s? I don't think KRK do passives any more. Passive speakers will operate directly from your car stereo. you may have to upgrade the car stereo's amp to give then the power to do their full dynamic range. This is the best perminant option as they turn on and off with the car. I don't under stand where your gonna put the studio monitor's cases though. Are you taking the cones out of the cases and fitting them into the dashbord?

3. The last option I can think of is to find something that plugs into the cigaret lighter socket to run them.

Probably what I'd do as its temporary and cheap.

I've got 6 panels covered with cloth. (4 big ones on the side & in front of me, 2 smaller ones in the corner), cost me around 50 bucks at a hardware store discount. I've got pretty small speakers (6" woofer). So I'll check low frequencies on a headphone. In all just a little treatment, works if I don't play too loud.

That small confined space, glass around.. the last thing I would call a car is 'treated'.
Like I said, your car has a totally different sound, you can't re-create that with monitors.

... which kinda negates the idea of powering the inverter from a cigarette lighter plug which usually won't deliver more than 10 Amps.
I don't think that the KRKs will draw so much power at low to medium volumes though.

 

Isn't the point of hearing your mix in a car to get an impression how it sounds with typical speakers installed in a car?

It's a "car check"! Put in passive speakers + a good car amp..

..and don't forget to install a nice visualizer, either brunette or blonde.

Also, never high-pass - it can cause phase issues and improper visualizer functioning.
