    Hi,

I am using an old Roland JV30 as my controller. Many of the vst's i use, my keyboard is up an octave higher than the keyswitches. Is this a setting on my keyboard, or in the particular vst, such as Kontakt. How do i fix this?
    Any help appreciated.

When in the world did a DAW have anything to do with a certain VSTi?? And why would you answer a question with another question?? Anyways.... all you need to do is adjust the -/+ octave. In Kontakt all you need to do is make sure the keyboard is open in the Kontakt gui and at the bottom left, right under pitch\mod is the option to pitch up or down using the L\R arrows. Now it's not like this in all synths but most do have an option to adjust to your liking.if you can't see it right away then go in to the option menu and I'm pretty sure you will find what you are looking for. BTW it wouldn't hurt to actually know how to use your Roland JV30. It also has the same option. And for what it's worth, keyswitches have nothing to do with your question

Well, for instance in Live, you could put a midi effect on your chain that would raise everything or lower everything an octave. Then you could set that as a default MIDI strip and not have to think about it everytime you use a new VSTi. It is a perfectly valid point.

Im using Sonar. Yeah, i havent used the JV30 by itself in a looong time. For the most part it works fine as a controller, but most of the software synths etc. I can never get to the keyswitches (thats what the vst makers call them. The pink keys if you will to trigger strums or variations.) I am always up highers. As far as Kontakt, if you mean changing the octaves down near the Kontakt keyboard, i tried that and it didnt change a thing. On most vst programs i seem to be up an octave too high to get to those keys. Thanks for the replies and keep them coming.

On the Roland, turn on transpose.

Then hold transpose + the slider or up/down arrows to adjust the the transposition. The values are in semitones.
