i heared it might be useful to use upward/low-level compression (not upward/downward expansion!) when mastering EDM. so i tried the usual suspects such as eg. Waves MV2 but they didn't sound good (weired/undesired pumping). i suspect because they are simply not multiband and since the low end is so predominant in EDM there are no low-levels when the bass is playing so i'm wondering how one can recommand upwards compression for EDM unless it is multiband. so i searched around but couldnt find a single upward compression plugin that offers multiband.

could you please recommand some multiband upward compression plugins for windows?

the good thing is that you can use a band-splitter and any compressor plugin (of choice) for upward compression in parallel.

are you implying that Fabfilter Pro-MB can't do that ? Compress mode with positive Range, isn't that upward compression ?

First one I thought of as well.

Fabfilter Pro-MB is probably my favorite. Otherwise you can use whatever multi-band compressor you'd like, dial in some make-up gain and make it 50/50 wet/dry. This will make any compressor, multi-band or not, act like a upwards compressor.

Btw, if you're a Reaper user you can download Sai'ke Not-OTT. You can also use a JS band-splitter and use whatever comp you'd like ofc. This should work in every DAW.
