I think the problem happens because as human beings we do not tolerate thinking differently, that is something innate. Somehow we learn to accept and tolerate, and many people pretend to tolerate in order to live in "harmony".
Freedom of expression somehow comes at a cost. You will say something and that something can have its consequences. That is why those who remain silent will never be singled out because they have not said anything for which they should be judged. So I would say that freedom of expression has a price.
Yes, yes, true. There are things where freedom of expression has an even higher price, politics, religion, soccer, etc.

I could not agree more, and it's nice to hear someone else speaking the truth with no fear of the "authorities" coming to shut you up. I whole heartedly agree, especially about the "free speech" but we need "moderators" for some reason. And my, how it did get a moderator to come in like a shark smelling blood, and some what proving your point before catching themselves.

 

I've got something I would like to share with you, people. It's a little fabulous book called "Daily Adventures of a Mixerman". It was compiled from his forum posts [gearslutz? ;)] so it is in a html format. It's one of those books you'll never forget. So funny yet true! I read it 3x and enjoyed it immensely every time!.

It's about how he "The Mixerman" recorded a band called "Bitch Slap". The thing is, to this day we are still only speculating on who he is [or was... it happened in 2003] and what the real name of the band was, but rumours say he was a really famous producer and the band was also quite famous. If you search the internet for "mixerman bitch slap" you can find all kinds of answers. He started posting on a forum [don't know which one but I speculate it was gearslutz] about his experiences, because he found it so funny and surreal, and that turned out into an absolute blast of a book!

It's a treasure-trove of fun, especially if you're a musician or a producer.

Enjoy! It's incredibly funny but also educative as hell! :P

In a political sense especially, if what you say might change things they'll shut you down one way or another. Free speech is probably an illusion - you can say what you like so long as the important people with power don't hear it, or you convince enough people that what you said was true. Try it!

I think you have to be important enough so that they can go after you, if you are a "nobody" like me, nobody will listen to you. I have never shut up about anything and I have said many things, but it just remains there, in one more fool of the bunch.
