Still haven't found "the one" but have tried those mentioned and a few others. I tend to use the Arturia (kinda quirky but interesting) and the Black Rooster, the latter being the most satisfying. The PSP Springbox is probably the closest to a Fender Reverb tank I've come across.

you guitar players often have T-Racks. What about TR5 Sunset Sound Studio Reverb ? The black rooster is nice( the FET in the same bundle is pretty decent also ).

The Legendary '63 Fender Reverb as Boss Pedal!

    BOSS FRV-1 '63 Fender Reverb

Spring reverb is an absolute MUST for guitarists in many styles of music! It all started with the tube-powered FENDER REVERB reverb unit, which was later also built into many Fender amps (like the Twin Reverb) and defined the sound of spring reverb!

This standard reverb was used on thousands of recordings and stages in the sixties and seventies not only for guitar, but also for many other instruments and vocals. For guitarists, it is indispensable in surf music, shadows sound, rockabilly, country, beat and blues, and even the grunge of the 90s has influenced this rediscovered tube reverb!

BOSS presents in cooperation with FENDER the FRV-1 a precise modeling of the '63 FENDER REVERB with all original controls! With e.g. the DWELL control (signal strength sent to the reverb springs) up to middle position you hear the standard spring reverb of music history, from middle position on it gets really twangy - for SURF and SHADOWS!

The FRV-1 is a great alternative to the original: reasonable price, small and handy, no maintenance of the three tubes, no noise due to mechanical swinging of the springs on stage.

I never look further for spring reverbs: Altiverb 7 GEAR patches Grampian SSSprings, Furman RV-1 and Tube Works RT 921. Nothing better.

Nebula is amazing for anything mechanical (plate, spring, oil can ...)
But not for real time, only mixing

On my Squier guitar I generally use my Boss GP-10GK multi-effect processor (it is the incredible GP-10 multi-effect pedalboard plus a Roland GK-3 Divided Pickup included in option in the box). It is absolutely awesome... but it is very expensive (around $500).

If I want to work for reverb effects AFTER the recording of my guitar on the DAW I use Springs, from Audiothing, which is really excellent for guitars. And for almost all other uses of a reverb on the DAW (for my VSTs, my synths, my Yamaha EL90 organ, my piano and my flutes) I use Fog Convolver 2, from Audiothing again. It makes all sorts of awesome reverbs and it also makes amazing effects based on the convolution.

Arturia Spring-636 is my favorite by a long shot. CPU heavy, but sounds so damn good! It has 8 different reverb tanks you can choose from, but the default "Gibbs orig." is the best sounding IMO. The pre-amp emulation has a very nice drive as well.

If you need something that's a bit less CPU intensive you can check out Audiothing Springs. I think it's also convolutional like the Arturia, but it's not as heavy on the CPU in my experience.

For my PRS Paul's Guitar (two mini-humbuckers), I use the AudioThing Outer Space (RE-201 emulation). There are other RE-201 emulations, but this one has the narrow frequency response that I kinda like, very reminiscent of Lana Del Rey's and Ennio Morricone's guitars. On my Manson EVO (humbucker + single coil), I use the Arturia Spring-636. It's a cleaner and less muddy. Like @Arabian_jesus said, it's CPU intensive, but that's okay for me.

this one is my favorite also. i'm a lifelong guitarist and the arturia one feels more natural to me than a lot of the other ones i've tried. great ITB solution when a real spring tank isn't an option
