Singing live and singing in a studio situation, although related, are two different disciplines.

Shhh. It is way more fun when they are autotuneless.

True, although sometimes they have bad recitals. I have heard favorite artists in certain recitals singing amazingly and in another singing better than ever.

If the singer is very bad, the autotune gives you away. You can hear how that synthetic sound when passing from note to note becomes evident

    Twaddle.

A good night with good stage monitoring is a completely different planet to the same night with monitor issues. Anyone who's gigged anywhere at anytime would know that.

If Micky Bubble is using autotune live, who is clearly a very good singer, it makes me wonder who isn't. Would any of the great singers of the past have used it had they had access to it? Who knows. Singers are known to be insecure.

I wonder if Macca will be using autotune tonight...

The autotune would have been good for Yoko Ono, so that the microphone would have been turned off

I wonder how many vocalists live use autotune vs lip-syncing

Barbara Streisand once immediately fired an engineer who used a compressor on her live vocal. She wouldn't for sure use autotune software.

I wanted to like Macca's performance but on past results I was apprehensive and thought he would probably sound tired and strain to hit the notes, well, he was ok on the opening song but then the tired voice was back as he relaxed into the gig. I heard another song and turned it off, this isn't the Macca I want to remember. I'll still flick through the performance later for the good bits.

Another thought struck me, over the years there's been an ongoing argument about who was better, Macca or Lennon and I realised that had Lennon still been around and it was decided which of them would headline I think it would have been Lennon, purely on account of his charisma and presence - Macca seems to have to fight for these things with his bouncy personality but because of his age it doesn't work anymore. I'm a huge fan of both but as I get older and more cynical I favour Lennon more. 'Got to admit, it's getting better all the time' (Macca) - 'Couldn't get much worse' (Lennon).

Paul is already very old, and obviously the age is reflected in your voice. But he has done things that I never thought he could do at his age, I think he did too much.
For my personal taste, I stopped following his album from "Off The Ground", from that album, the others didn't catch my attention, I'm not saying they aren't good, but they weren't the same.

If John had been alive, he would have made a very different music than Paul, for me Paul always made commercial music, to produce Hits, which I think Lennon was not worried about.
