aside from the pure collector pieces with all the extra zeros, that Jomox Xbase99 is the only item giving me an itchy trigger finger at its current price. Many of these prices, you can find these items all day long. The site is a good idea though, because overall Reverb prices are crazy. And that is a direct result of the fees they tack on. But I do really like Reverb overall, it's a very seamless experience selling on there.

HAHAHAHA! A broken Memory Moog for $35K, that's ridiculous!

The only vintage gear worth buying is the one in the garage sale for $30, everything else is a travesty

I saw the $899 price on that JD990 and was ready to pull out my wallet until I saw the photo up close. Shit looked like it went on a date with Wolverine

The days of someone selling a synth/gear without looking online to figure out current street prices, is pretty much gone for good. You may find something very rare that way, but a seller not looking online for real prices will be a rarer find than most. I'd never do that anyway, though. I am all for getting a great deal, but I'd never rip a seller off like that. (leaving with a 30$ Moog).

Estate sales arent a bad option either. Some decent gear goes up for auction and sometimes you can luck out with a good price. I bought a line mixer not too long ago in mint condition for 25 bucks that came out of a police raid.

in 2022 grandma has Facebook and is a member of a Q Anon group. The chances of them not punching "2000 MemoryMoog" into the Google machine is pretty slim. But on a brighter note, they do have the S950 that every sub bass in jungle/dnb ever was made with! The one with the special 60hz sine. :winker:

Vintage gear follows the same rules as any antiques: the pricetag never corresponds to the intrinsic value of the object sold, but to its age, what history it had, who it belonged to, and how many units still exist of it. Soon, vintage gear will be auctioned at Sotheby's for millions of pounds ... that is a world made up of professional speculators (who sells) and millionaire fetishists (who buys)
All this has nothing to do with art, music and creativity.
