After writing one of the most relevant books in the 21st century, Capitalist Realism, Mark Fisher began to look at the immediate subjective, cultural implications. Implications around a state of melancholy, new nostalgia, cultural depression, lost futures, and a new inlook into hauntology. His second book 'Ghosts of My Life' detail these very states through the perspective of pop culture and his personal experiences.

Roughly, Fisher argues that artworks must propagate radical narratives or moments of “transcendental shock” through which the decentralization of the human subject and the denaturalization of social reality occur, so that this exposes the arbitrary forces that shape capitalist realism: The Weird sits on the edge between the Eerie; and the sinister radiates from the burning desire for a future that never came.

it is poetic and profound (the intention is to question the utilitarian and instrumental rationality of capitalism because this system is not concerned with what distances oneself from everyday social life, because it simply does not sell well), but it only advocates shock through estrangement as a means of awakening automaton individuals from mundane and trivial reality. Avant garde and postmodernity have been trying to do this without any success: their anti-foundationalism is fallacious. People end up clinging to art through affordances. In the end, cognitivism destroys all these structuralist and poststructuralist theories, but they persist as pièce de résistance

Sansome, apologies if this comes across as a bit "tough love" but in all the time you've been posting on here, and on other music forums I frequent, you have rarely talked about the music you make. You have more been into talking about the music you might make or the low level detail of how you would achieve a particular technical thing, if you ever did it. I think your destiny might not be in writing/producing music but there might be a place for you to write about writing music. Or, to quote a cult surfing film called Blue Juice, "DO WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!!!".
