Service centre is long gone. It is now native access and can be installed from NI if you like, but it is not advisable. You don't need it for sister site activity. If you don't know how to use R2R Kontakt read one of the many tutorials on the sister site or here.

(I don't know how it is for R2R Kontakt) For some Kontakt versions, having Native Access installed gives you access to fresh "NativeAccess.xml" files, so you don't have to manually add libraries that were released after you installed your Kontakt version.

Oh I have been using Kontakt for years (literally) which is why this issue is a new one on me as I said in my post (don't assume everyone is a newbie).

In the R2R.txt in the R2R directory it states:

    Update Your Product (Library) Information
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't have "NativeAccess.xml", or your file is outdated,
    copy included "NativeAccess.xml" to :
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\

=> How to check my "NativeAcess.xml" is getting old?
Bigger one is newer. Always use newer version.
    NativeAccess.xml is their product database.
(Unless they do some optimization,) bigger one has more data.

If valid product information will be missed in those XMLs,
you will have following issue :
    - error message is shown when you load that product,
    - you cannot even make the product activated.

This suggests that Service Center is needed and would be installed....

If you are using NativeAccess application,
the latest "NativeAccess.xml" file will be installed.
However, keep in mind that legit NativeAccess can invalidate
    the licenses generated by R2R.

    So just in case I created C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\

And placed a copy of R2Rs NativeAcess.xml in it and when I booted up Cubase and inserted an instance of Kontakt
it crashed Cubase due to an error in C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll

This should be enough, so the problem must be another. I other words, you don't need Native Access installed.

Just in case, have you installed the latest visual c++ runtime libraries? Shot in the dark but it's the thing that gives the weirdest errors

Confirmed that this is happening in both Cubase 11 & 12 (both fresh installs) running on a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro 21H2 (the newest version) Lite with all updates and drivers installed.

Both R2R and bobdule versions of Kontakt 6 v6.7.1 cause the crashes in CB 11 & 12 at C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll
