Do we need so many loops and samples releases? After another flood of these on our sister site I realised that who buys them, who download them? Do we really need them and so many? Is all the music based now in loops and samples? They are useful surely but essential?

Anyway, couldn’t those releases go to the separate place of sister site not to litter our beautiful place of resources for many musicians?

loops and samples everywhere, but not a drop to drink.

the filter on the left hand side may be the thing you seek.

Sometimes "following the rules" is what actually results in this. Each release should be as close to perfect a copy of the retail product, as possible. So sometimes all these small things get released, separately. Like those Reason packs. 30 mb each or what have you, and it looks like a flood.

As long as you can somehow make money with loops and samples, they will exist. It's like the supermarket, an oversupply of food but you only buy what you need, you can buy everything but you can't eat it all.

Who should determine what is good or bad or what you need or not? Only you as a consumer decide what you want to use or download. As you can see, this is very individual because you are an individual. What is junk for one is valuable for another. I call this variety and abundance, which is better than a lack. With every day the amount of data or samples is getting bigger and bigger.

Please do not generalize everything, the world is not black and white, look at nature with its diversity. We humans are very creative and imaginative. Music really changed through the use of samples and presets. The user at home PC, can suddenly conduct a whole orchestra. You don't need to buy a drum kit and practice - you are the virtual drummer, drag a drum sample into your DAW.

Be happy about the further and further development in the new digital world. Be happy that so many people are creative and it goes on and on. Today, everyone can upload their creative work to YouTube or sell or give away their samples. It's like a big library with collected books, you won't be able to read all the books, but you know that they are and that the knowledge is available.

For each of us it's a challenge to design our own computer so that we can find our way around and not drown in the flood of VSTi, VST, presets and samples. Let's face the problem and solve it, because that's what our brain is for.

I use to go directly to the software section. It helps.

    Who's "we" here?

FWIW I don't mind all of the sample/loop/preset packs even though they're not for me, easy to scroll over. I often don't check the new releases though, I find it easier to search for something that I'm looking for when the time comes. But that's just me.

Yes we need so many, I download quite a lot of sample packs, and yes I need enough to pick something I like.
I make hip-hop, I have not touched a mic for anything other than a vocal for about a year now

long story short. Yes, it is essential.

To tell you the truth, I find topics like this one absurdly egocentric. Not to offend you. And you certainly have not been the first,
I think you should get some more perspective, not everybody is the same.

Well, if you look at the amount of 'likes' and engagement on all those sample/loop packs - it's easy to see that the demand isn't the same. Sure, there are people who are interested, but it is significantly less than those who are looking to create with useful tools.

Perhaps there needs to be a separate sample section or site for these non-musicians.

    Sample of shots fired!

"we" are not all. There are people who live from samples. Depends on what you do. Maybe if you're just a musician and you play some instrument, you don't need that much, but if you're a producer you need a lot of samples and loops that fit the client. Sometimes what I don't understand is how each one is going to use it, since you run the risk of being sued if you download it from the sister site and then don't buy it. This topic always confuses me. "what is the risk of using a sample or loop without paying". Now let's turn it upside down. Suppose that the sister site publishes 300 vst per day (delay, compressors, limiters, etc) Those who do not use these plugins and use more samples and loops will say "who needs so many vst?" and my answer would be: me

On the other hand, the music already made "loops". It's the, well, unfortunate future for those of us who play instruments.
So, in the future maybe there will be something more than a sample or loops, maybe it will be ready-made songs, where you just press a button and the song will be ready for you. If you start to see throughout history, it is so.
Piano, guitar = keyboard electric guitar = analog equipment = vst.
    everything is replaced

Obviously samples are useful and have their place and there is some cross-over with vst instruments. The problem is the quantity, they're often posted in huge several-page floods. I wish I could filter them out because I don't use them (well, very rarely but if I need a specific sample I'll find it elsewhere).

They're welcome if they're good ones from quality companies. Most of regular floods on the sister site are from Bedroom Trap producers trying to make a fast buck, and they're all dog shite that nobody wants. We rarely see releases from Loopmasters anymore, just awful homemade junk that is bringing the quality of the sister site down. You can't find the good stuff through all the dog shite. The mods/Admin need to tidy the place up. What are these posters thinking flooding the place with these turds?

I'm going to start a thread next time there is a bunch of Guitar Tab shit posted. Can't you guys figure out how to play songs by yourselves without flooding "our" site full of wonderful samples? Obviously you guys aren't REAL MUSICIANS since you need all this help?

It seems pretty self-concerned and holier-than-thou when phrased like that, doesn't it? That's because it is.

The problem is that even "useful tools" is highly usage dependent. For instance, I've no need for tens of EQs and compressors available, but someone who does mixing/mastering/live sound and whatnot these might be essential.

In the beginning I kinda felt the same way, then I noticed the volume of these loops & sample packs then I thought to myself, he just dive in the pool & see how I like the water. And you know what....
I friction' LOVE it!I get so many ideas and my sales are starting to move slowly but surely. I sold a couple trax a few weeks ago and was able to eat good that week.
Now if I can keep this up I can finally pay for all the vet 7 apps I use . Yes it's so nice to have such a wonderful place to obtain all of these different software & plugins for free. But for me it's more of a place to try the software without a time limit. So the software I truly love & use I want to buy legitimately so when the new version comes out I'm not waiting & hoping it comes here.
And to be honest quite a few plugins that are cracked actually remove code that bloats the software up & slows it down and tends to make some laggy..
So if I get inspired by someone's sample pack or loops I'll just have a real keyboardist record it for me. And if I do find myself releasing something containing a sample from a record or loop pack I'm more than happy to share the royalties with the creator because I'll have something to share where as before I had NOTHING!
    I'd rather take 25K 0f 100K than a big fat "0"
ero is such a lonely number. Just look @ it 0.
Now look @ 25.000.00 Loox berry berry guud tu mee!

Chances are also pretty good if you are going to use a sample in a published track because it is good enough to be there; they probably stole it from somebody/something else in the first place :)
