It's a personal choice but I completely disabled defender and Windows update in group policy in Win 11.
If you cannot customize your AV then it's a control freak and should be terminated IMO. It serves you not the other way around. If a critical update that drastically improves performance comes in, I will enable manual and download it instead of it downloading everything and re-enable WU for the purpose of updating only then disable it again. Same with defender. It's a nasty piece of crap.




For those who wish to keep WU running but do not want the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (MRT.exe in System32 dir), create a registry file (text then rename the text file to from .txt to .reg, save it then double-click it and run or right-click and merge).
This stops WU from downloading MRT and any of its updates. You can manually delete it if it exists and you feel comfortable doing so after running the *.reg file.

Put this in it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MRT]
"DontOfferThroughWUAU"=dword:00000001

I've had very good success using sandboxie for keygens.

 

I'm using SORDUM Defender Control 2.0 to disable Win Defender on Win 10. It works great and it's portable. The website says that it works for Win 11 too.

Microsoft windows 10 pro comes with a sandbox. That's all you need. It'll run anything safely.

Just use a VMware virtual machine (a basic one will do) with Windows 7 or Windows 10.

 

I just went through this on windows 10, for me Windows flagged it and removed it I restored it then allowed it and was getting the same thing as you, but was fine after reboot. Once I allow the presonus and spectrasonics keygens then other keygens and everything is fine and windows ignores them.

 

And as usual , people write just because they have a keyboard under their hands. It s not true: You can disable it remporarily and it will reactivate when you restart your computer, and before you, you can use the keygens to activate your software (keep in mind that before unraring any file, you have to add the folder where you saved them to exclusions, i hope you know how to do it).
In my opinion there s a more efficient way to stop windows defender.Since it s behavior is related to the fact that your system doesnt contain any other protection software, all you have to do is install another anitvirus, it will automatically turn off windows defender, at that pont set up the new antivirus adding al the exclusions, and if needed disable it when you use a keygen.Since the third party antivirus is still present , although deactivated, windows defender will remain deactivated

 

For me it was : Win-Security - App& Browser - Exploit options - force images to be randomized (mandatory ASLR) -> DEAKTIVATE

 

All the solutions given are here great BUT will mean absolutely NOTHING if you insist on re-connecting the DAW machine to the internet whilst not having FULLY optimized the OS for oem installed mal/spyware. What ever measures you have/will take to ensure that you are able to do with the machine what YOU want to do with it (not ms) will most assuredly be UNDONE the very next time windows update is allowed to run rampant and telemetry is exchanged.

Before I download any keygen, I go into "Security" settings and disable EVERYTHING.
Firewalls, Real-time Protection, anything that can be toggled off.

Keygen always works after I do this.
