The centerpiece of this plugin suite is a beautiful emulation of a rare vintage British console from 1972, used to shape the immortal sound of iconic albums by AC/DC, Queen, Clash, Sex Pistols and many more.
Our emulation embodies the essence and the behavior of this sexy beast - a fully discrete, class A console with mastering grade inductor Eq's on each channel and a 44-Volt audio power supply that gives it a smooth and clear sound with big and solid bass, low noise and lots of headroom.

In addition to this beautiful console, we have emulated some extremely refined and very rare pieces of gear to accurately deliver the classic tone that can be found at of Vox-ton's (http://www.vox-ton.com/).

If I had this my music would finally be amazing.

 

The plugin delivers though.

 

Tried it. Very nice comp.
Really does nothing but compressing.
No harmonics, no messing around in the frequency spectrum. Just simple compression.
And all this without 3 years of latency.

I like it.

However the eq's are not for me.

Latency is very small for an AA plugin, goes for their EQ and strip as well. Very responsive.
Comps kills.
Harmonics are there, just crank up the input. Check plugindoctor.
You can put the softube harmonics in front of it for more juice :D

 

Couldnt get it running in PluginDoctor with vst2. I dont know, sometimes it works sometimes not.
But I only drink water anyways.

The great sounding comp/limiter of cola is an extremely rare Cadac A505 VCA.

 

I am not in any way implying that it's not a good compressor but rarity has nothing to do with quality, in my opinion.
Why AA use the "rare" issue to make me believe (or imply) that the plugs are therefore of high quality?

 

I really love all things Acoustica Audio. I don't know if I'm getting carried away by the GUI or my CPU seems like it's going to explode and I say "wow, really this is an emulator, that's why it consumes so much CPU"
But to my ear (perhaps wrong). At least the compressors don't have that "choked" feeling in the audio like the other compressors.
Namely. you compress and compress and feel that the compressor is still breathing (Audio Acustica). But hey, maybe that's just a feeling of mine.
The big problem with these plugins, and I think we all agree on that, is that they consume almost all the CPU

 

I just mentioned it because no other plugin company has sampled this VCA comp.

 

True about the cpu.
Cola comp is smooth sounding, punchy. No choking on high gain reduction. Hardware DNA in a plugin form.

 

I really appreciate AA's effort of emulting stuff other devs don't. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean they are good or that they will work for everyone, but it's nice to have alternatives that aren't just the "classic" ones.

 

Cadac are supposed to be great sounding boards. Used mostly in theatres, broadway productions and such. They are also great for recording. People describe them as "poor man's Neve".

 

Urban legend, but Johnny Rotten pissed on several cadac boards hence they sound even better today.
Technicians still get high when fixing them from all the cocaine and LSD stuck inside.
