    Because he can !

Everyone is free to invent something and sell it on the market. Very many fail and some are successful.

    The main thing cheap ?

If you are a professional musician and perform live, the first thing you do is take out a loan to pay for your
synthesizer, amp, etc., then you do concerts and sell CDs and pay the loan installments from your earnings.

a real instrument does not need to be a Stratocaster from 1962 for it to be some musicians instrument.

go find some guy playing any instrument for money in a bar and see if they want to use your laptop instead.

    Hmm let's see...
    1 699 € over here (Thomann)
    Available in several months........no comment...........
Available since January 2009 = old

    Alternatives:
DSPemu= free, sounds nearly the same..you plonk it in any decent laptop and voila!
Viper=(around 70 euro after discount) sounds close and uses a 3% of the cpu

    What shall I do?

    Possible alternative:
Access Virus vst....loads of copies sold (unless they are greedy and ask for too much), they continue their business with their updated native version only by repackaging and updating their code
Option 2: They sell the software with a little dsp box and sell it for a reasonable fee..

I have just noticed that all their synths are not going to be available for a few months

There is a worldwide chip shortage at the moment and also some supply chains are broken because of Covid 19.
Hardware always costs money - software is much cheaper and sometimes free.
I would give it a try with the Viper. There are so many soundbanks to import today.
An emulation never sounds like the original. For this you take the " DSP563xx Emulator " and some Virus sample libraries.

1.) Nucleus Soundlab - Viral Outbreak VST (No Longer Available)

Viral Outbreak is based on the sounds of Access Music's Virus TI hardware synthesizer. Using the power of extensive 96kHz multi-sampling, manual looping and professional preset design, Nucleus SoundLab brings this powerful electronica sound to your productions as a VSTi plugin and a Reason 4.0 Refill.

Viral Outbreak contains all manner of TI-based sounds. Classic wavetables, raw saw and pulse waveforms (sampled at multiple pulse-widths), unison dance leads, breathtaking pads, bizarre formant effects, massive supersaws and even punchy synth drumkits.

2.) VAZ Synths - VAZ Modular - Synth (Modular) VSTi - 32 Bit - No Longer Available

Kire has made a virus soundbank with the name "Kire JP ".

    3.) Fr4ncesco's Virus MOD 2.1 for Z3TA+2

It's very simple. If you want virus - buy virus. Not alternatives. DPSemu = Virus A/B/C, not TI2.
Viper isn't an option for me at all.

I love the DSP56300. I use it all the time. Unfortunately, my fully upgraded 2017 MacBook Pro can only run a few instances of it.
Viper, being written in the current version of SynthEdit (aka Monthly Flow Stone) is obviously not going to happen. Nor will me giving money to someone who has simply attempted to attach their own name to someone else works in effort to personally benefit monetarily. That shit will never happen. The DSP56300 coders are providing something for FREE to musicians who would like to have this sound available to them.
There is an integtrity to the work of a "hacker", when the work is not done for personal benefit. Read an R2R nfo. It's the same thing.

That's like showing up to a nightclub as someone else's +1 because you couldn't get in on your own. And then asking other people for money to do it. Meanwhile, when you make a record it will be with the real hardware these suckers paid you for. :)

Well, why is Virus TI so expensive, some might ask? All you get for your 1500+ € is a software synth plus two Motorola CPUs, WHICH CAN ACTUALLY RUN THE SHIT in the first place.
To this day there is no exact emulation of the TI and even the DSP Emulation of the Virus C, which is sonically accurate, doesn't run smooth on most systems with multiple instances.

From the 1500 € you have to subtract the following: 19% VAT goes to the state, the retailer gets a few percent, the cleaning lady at Access and the accountant as well as the rent of the Access office, plus freight costs, customs, cardboard, manual, patent fees and last but not least the Access boss, he has studied for several years and in that time earned no money. I would say the virus is worth the price. There is never exact emulation of hardware. Some manufacturers come pretty close but the original remains the original. That's why many use samples from the originals.

The DSP563xx emulation is the but hit also times in the pleasure of Virus sound to be infected. And all that for free.

To this day there is no public exact emulation of the TI

Have to add the DSP56300 emu sounds exactly like the original ROMS you plug it. Since it run the very same software as the hardware unit does.
(exclude ADDA convertion here which adds some flavour to the sound, but very minimal - its more in the upper frequency spectrum.)
Remember if you fire up one DSP56300 with virus b or C ROM inside, thats equal to one hardware virus B or C!!!
I can run around 10 or even more instances of the virus C, thats 10 hardware units. Insane!

Ti and its follow up virus iterrations wont be made public, since they are still being sold!
I agree on the price, but i am happy, with what the Virus C can do for me. And i still have my other beloved softsynths to support the EMU.

The price is stiff, i would rather buy a new computer for the price of a new virus TI2, but when you look inside, how much it offers, its still a great price. If thats to much for you go DSP56300 emu with the right roms.

Well mac yeah mac people do not have viper. And i guess its not going to happen soon for a viper mac build to arrive.

For me Viper sits in the middle and you have windows or/and you have an old system, which cant handle the DSP56300 emu, then you can for sure find a vvorking version of viper?!

Its awsome what Adam has created here, and i think i read, it was not allowed for him to debug the code and replicate it. So he could only to the schematics and reimplement them in flowstone? (correct me if im wrong?)
    Then its still suprisingly close!

So.. do the Viper presets converted from virus with v1.10 work with 1.0.91 Viper version?
Do they use the same FXP format?

Mac guy here. That DSP56300 is awesome. Yes, that TI2 costs as much as a Mac or a PC (I still want one though. Those specs are great), Szabo. won't make a Mac version of Viper (his loss, but hey), and I respect that team's decision not to make a TI emulation to avoid any conflict with Access, so the DSP56300 will do for now. It's a great emulation and sounds amazing.

    hi Chaindog,

May I ask if you'd have time and willigness to check if:

    1. if viper opens the presets well (i want to buy viper if you'd confirm this info)

    2. as i have been searching for a more detailed audio demo about the dustons depeche mode soundbank and i could not find anything on the internet...if you know that the s.bank has presets from loads of depeche mode songs or only from a couple of them as everybody can hear from the official demo?

thank you very much in advance!
