Hi everyone, hope you are doing great. I'm looking for a plugin that meets these four items.

(A) Compressor
(B) Limiter
(C) lightweight
(D) zero latency

If such thing exists, please name it.

AFAIK, there're only a very few plugins which offer this combo (only). One would be TDR Limiter 6 another one T-Racks Precision Comp/Limiter. I've never tested the first and the latter comes with latency.

OTOH, several leightweight compressors with 0 latency offer 0ms (especially with lookahead) or close to 0ms attack time and infinite ratio and can therefore be used as a limiter.

@Havana Looks really nice, but is it lightweight? Not the best CPU here.

 

I ran 80 instances of the omni channel on 32 sample buffer @ 48kHz, my cpu peaked at 53%. I'm using a m1 MacBook Air with 8GB ram and 256 SSD. The test was run in Studio One, Native mode. I probably could have run another 50 tracks.

I'd say thats pretty lightweight.

Also disable the modules you don't need and you'll lower cpu usage.

 

Not exactly, when you activate the Limiter, the compressor's ratio is just set to infinite. It's not an extra limiter.

Compressor + limiter are roughly 50% of a single band of TDR Nova in dynamic mode - if that helps you.

 

Not really zero latency (between 16 and 78 samples latency, depending on your project sample rate), but otherwise it meets the requirements: Sonnox Oxford Dynamics

 

You could just use two instances of Fircomp after each other for comp+limiter. It's the only plug-in I know of that can limit a signal with zero latency at 0 samples attack. It doesn't create tons of distortion either like a clipper so I don't know what's actually going on inside of the plug-in It just works.
