You need the right 10$ earbuds to be able to do that.

Just roll off the bottom and boost the nasal 1-2kHz to compensate for the design flaw of the NS10s (boost enough until it hurts, and then tape some toilet paper to cover the tweeter). Enjoy the shitty sound.

    Actually you can,
Sonarworks has an IR of the NS10 which you can simulate while correcting your own system..

    Lol apparently not..

But well, this seems to be the System-wide thing,
maybe it's not using ASIO.. :dunno:

I'm more of a Morph-it guy anyways

NS10 is a just a medium freq box.
Bad low end, bad high end.

You can "simulate" it by using ANY good large band medium speaker.
Use a single one in mono for old school mixing  (complemented by other stereo monitors and headphones)

NS10 was a hype. and hype is DEAD.

There used to be a kind of conventional wisdom that NS10s were a worst case scenario; that if you got the mix sounding good on them it would sound good on anything. A lot of studios used them as an a/b switch, often along with Auratones as an even worse c option. But there's better ways of simulating terrible sound environments.

I think it's a preference thing. Hype or not hype, do whatever works for you. For me, I know that if my mixes sound good on the genelecs, and good on the ns10s, it's a good mix. Sure, you can simulate the shitiness with an eq or something else, or maybe you don't need to, but it works for me and a lot of other people too.

I love my NS-10's. They are just the right size to place my Neumann's at ear height.

I own a Pair in mint conditionof NS there is Auratone too that you found in every studio in the 70s I saw them in EMI boulogne France where Stones recorded ( actually I have 3 pairs and A switcher NS 10 originals need an external amp that s a little boring tho
But @minipunk can't you find a friend or a place that owns one or another where you could play your stuff ? even if you have to give him/them a little xx bill ?

If you mean to only check your mix??
"SOME" people do an EQ plugin on the master bus simulation to check that it sounds decent in the midrange. So they roll off at both ends around 300 and 3Khz.
They then flip it on and off basically. So all you're hearing is the midrange the NS-10 was so popular for. It's not a bad trick, because when the bottom and highs come back in when you turn it off, it tells you whether you have too much or too little.

You can get free headphone plugins that do the same sort of thing
    DeeSpeaker plugin here:
