haha on this forum i'm definitely giving peeps the benefit of the doubt that this is understood, but that doesn't mean it isn't always worth repeating! My favorite example of this would be...

is he incredibly skilled? yes. do I want to listen to this over.... the Melvins? FUCK NO. I made it 1:36 into the solo before getting stressed out and changing it to Hooch. In case you're like me here is that link to wash your ears out with haha

Guess which one made me convulsively bang my head and move like an idiot to the music. I mean- different strokes for different folks and it's subjective.... but what ISN'T subjective is that one of those is more complicated/fast than the others and that both give off completely different vibes.

Something people who don't produce hip-hop/house/simple music I think underestimate is how difficult that process can be, where it's about making less into more. not more into even more.

all that being said, i'm waiting impatiently for someone to take all of the audio of the "fastest" people and forcing them together into an unholy Frankenstein of a song

Right now, I'm kind of into the slowest music in the world, stoner/doom/sludge and messing around with PaulXStretch.

I think there is a huge difference between using speedy passages to enhance the musical piece or to simply do it just to make things faster.
If done well it can sound really nice but otherwise it just makes me wanna turn the track off ;)
Probably anything slightly above 300+ BPM 16th notes sounds like absolute shit to me.
If it's to fast it just sounds like a single note to us anyway since we can't distinguish the single sounds from another.

If you enjoy faster heavy stuff archspire is probably a band that would tickle that nerve.
