Lately, I've been thinking about limiting myself to just three synths and three effect plugins. Someone somewhere said that this limited focus would improve negative behaviours like procrastinating, bad decisions and overall non-productivity. That said, if I did take the challenge, obviously I'd choose synths where I can get the most bang for my buck. My choices? Falcon, Pigments and Wavestate Native.

 

Soft synths only?
DUNE 3, Triton Extreme, Edirol Orchestral (I'd include G-Player for GIGA files but including samplers feels like cheating a bit)

FX: Korg MDE-X, Chromaverb, Manipulator
Alternatively the main Fabfilter ones.

 

Synths are DUNE 3, Loom II and FM8.

Just 3 FX seems completely unreasonable. Can't even cover the basics like that.
But maybe, MAYBE if I really had to, I'd go with Saturn 2, Volcano 3 and Timeless 3 and I'll still need at least a proper true peak limiter like Pro-L 2. And even than that would still hinder my production instead of focusing it.

What kind of music do you make ?
Do you have a VSTi for the bass and another for the lead sound ? Tell me a little bit more about what you do.

You have more than 3 keepers right there. Almost every plugin in Logic is a keeper, too. Some are delete worthy (if you could).

 

Sylenth1 for anything related to dance/edm,imo still has its "sound",a great alternative reveal sound spire

For anything from Rnb to bass music(dubstep to d&b) Arturia pigments to anything cinematic, a great alternative u-he hive 2 (yes you've heard me right

I really enjoy & love Spitfire Audio Aperture the Stack for anything dystopian cinematic

As for effects make sure to choose a good emulation of the Roland chorus & space echo,reverb is a matter of your own taste & in what space you want to put in your composition/ arrangement

I dont need a limiter... thats a tool for lazy people
