That's a lot of changes. Considering Superior Drummer can use these as well in its current form, I imagine there will be either a large update to SD3 or a version 4 as well.

My assumption too. They took those features from SD. If they don't update SD then the 2 products would be nearly the same (minus the mixer and the quality of the drumkits on offer).

I've never actually managed to get SD to work on my system so haven't checked it out.

Every time an new EZD2 kit comes in SD3 needs an update or at best an edit to the version file so it runs. It stands to reason that with EZD3 on its way with a pile of new features, the very least will be a major update or a new version of SD too.

So what is your thoughts about Ezdrummer 3?
    Without comparing to Superior?

The auto ghost note thing could be interesting. I tend to play all that by hand but I have to do extensive velocity editing.

Ah, it seems to be based on Rooms of Hansa, but apparently new kits. RoH is my absolute favorite expansion.

Can EZD2 and EZD3 be used in parallel. Keeping old projects work and using the new version for new projects would be great.

One of the best updates for EZ3 has to be the grid editor! I don't use EZdrummer 2 much, but sometimes I have to help some friends with it and I'm always annoyed by the fact that you can't change anything in the groves if you place them in the built-in MIDI player/groove player. I use the groove player extensively in SD3 because it's just easier to use it rather than the DAW's MIDI editor.

EZdrummer 3 actually looks a lot like SD3. I wonder what updates they will do to SD3 (or SD4) to make it "superior" to EZ3. I don't feel like the mixer and built-in FX justify the difference in price. I assume most people rather route the different tracks out into the DAW and mix with their own plug-ins. The built-in FX are more of a convenience to have when you just want to lay down some grooves quickly and get a somewhat okay sound. They are not outright bad in any way (made by Overloud and they have some really great plug-ins), but most of the time I'm not completely satisfied with the sound I get with them.

I guess that all the advanced features like MIDI mapping, velocity curves, hit variation, voice and layer, tuning, macro controls, tracker etc is what will set Superior and EZ apart. I'm not sure if someone who is not a E-drummer have much use of this features though. I rarely use these features myself. The higher quality libraries and bleed in all mics, on the other hand, are definitely advantages that any user benefits from.

Looking forward to test EZ3. Might even switch from SD3 if it sounds pretty much as good as SD3 (and if it saves a lot of space).
