What do I do for people to buy my mixing service? Last year I tried to put a gig on Fiverr, had a very good banner and decent A/B's but no one bought it for like 3 months. What should I do for people to buy it? I was thinking about publishing A/B's on SoundCloud and YouTube, but the people that would listen them would be people that are already into mixing I would guess...

 

Extortion works. But it's tough to do to more then a few people at a time. Maybe try ransomware??

 

First thing to do is change your nickname

 

Demonstrate your mixing skills in social media and get people to know you through ads

 

take a break from what you are doing and apply for internship for 3-6months for free at a proper studio. Then you'll get to know proper people and build your network from there, steal their future clients, the one that been handling artists (A&R or manager) will always have someone new that they would want to pay cheaper (cut the budget) for mix, that is what you should steal. Prove yourself to them, if you deserve it, things will start to come your way. This has been done for as long as the mixing job exist. The only thing you'll get from "Let me mix your music" self-promotion is a 5 dollars gig at fiver.

There are several move you can do to promote your services.

First of all, check the market. Who is actually paying for mixing? What genres are the most demanded?
Your demos and offers should take that in consideration.

Go to forums and Facebook pages (any social media) where people are not into mixing, example singers / song writers sites. Help and comment, earn a reputation, from there, show what you do.

Some people maybe reluctant before paying. Offer partial mixes, like only the verse, as demo.

Another thing that seems to work very well, is to do educational videos about mixing. When people see that you really know your thing, they learn from you, but they also get more confident to give you their mix to do.

Last but not least study your markets, check prices and check your competition so you can establish a realistic pricing policy.

 

Today, anyone can easily study and learn about mixing on the Internet, so there is no reason for customers to pay anything other than famous engineers with special careers. Meet good musicians and build a good career

 

I disagree. It is difficult to mix your own music (especially if you love what you created). Many would rather ask someone else to mix and master instead to do it themselves.
