it's a little dumb to only give the beta to paying customers, but maybe it's because the paid customers are the most bitchy when they encounter a bug.

does it have new presets that show off any new additional features? seems like people pay for presets with that synth. is there another reason?

To help developer to continue to make it better?
Be thankful that this synthesizer that could be sold easily at the same price as Serum (189$) is actually free?

Beta versions are buggy and should not be installed unless you are a product tester and are supposed to find and report bugs.
Be patient and wait for an official version.

did i indicate that i am not patient? also it seems to me that you don't know the backstory. Tytell is releasing the beta to pro and subscriber customers, not to the free version users. so potentially thousands of users are trying the beta. it's not unreasonable to point that out is it? also, i guarantee i will find bugs that nobody else has. and i will find those bugs after the official incremental release instead of before.

But I have read through everything ! Using a beta version and then finding bugs is very useful, but it is only worth it if you are in contact with the manufacturer and can report the bugs to them, which also means that you have to use a purchased version.

A buggy beta version is for people who make music, the purest nightmare. If you want to be a beta tester that's great and if you enjoy it that's great too, for normal users a beta version is always a risk.

Hmm, why just don't pay 5$ for extra presets and ability to download it yourself?

Well Vital is free, but Pro users have early bird access, thats to have a little push that people buy eventually vital and get the beta earlier.
New version has several new features, performance improvements and presets (idk about new presets.).

I mean you have to pay Matt some coffees that he can live and further add new things to vital.

If you cant wait, go and buy it!

Well yes its a beta version, but i think the vital team, fixes bugs regularly and you can report on their github or on the page new encountered bugs. It is fine that way.
But you shouldnt use beta version in any projects with a deadline. If just want to try around, a beta version is just fine.

I'm not impatient whatsoever, it's just that I know that I can find bugs because I have more time than people with jobs have. That's why I don't have the money to give Tytel, who ought to be a millionaire already from Vital being one of the top synths in the universe. And the Vital team does not fix any bugs that I have seen, and I browse the official forum every day. The version has been 1.08 for the past 15 months. https://github.com/mtytel/vital -- and that's not a complaint, only a statement of fact as I know it.

There's something new from Matt Tytel - https://tytel.org

    Cursynth a musical GNU program

Cursynth is a polyphonic music synthesizer that runs graphically inside your terminal.
You can play Cursynth as a standalone soft-synth with your computer keyboard or MIDI keyboard.

Cursynth is under active development so if you think you can help out in one of these areas, please email [email protected]:
    • Patch creation (the more the better)
    • Developing a LV2 plugin version of Cursynth
    • Audio and signal processing features
    • Improving the Ascii interface using ncurses
    • Packaging it up!
    • Anything else?

Thanks for this hint, in that time he made the Helm VSTi and the Vital VSTi, I don't think it will work anymore.

Yeah, but this brings up another thing: Helm is a very solid synth and worth having in your arsenal!

It's not as capable as Vital, but it's very straightforward and lightweight and it's quite easy to dial in a tone that you want. Very good for punchy basses for instance.

is there a work around for open gl? I mean I don't have it so Vital doesn't work. with Faw Sublab you can change the config and make it work.

With these techniques I was able to get my gl up to 1.3 from 1.1!! not enough for Vital!! :suicide:
I've always got the Kia Movement. For me it's much better than Vital. :like:
