Hello I am a sample pack maker, and I wonder what are the best software to automate certain task. For example I have alot of long "drums stems", is there a way to automatically cut out the silence ? make them 8 bar long ?
Is there an automatic way to batch export drums one shot from 8 bar loops ?

Depends on DAW. In REAPER you can use Dynamic split. You'll need to adjust thresholds to taste, delete silent areas. Then Render source: "Selected Media Items" and use wildcards to name them uniquely.

If you spaced out the drums so the thresholds have plenty of leeway then you can set Dynamic Split settings once, drop all the stems, select them all, and process them together. But I suggest working on one stem first since it's easier to see what's happening. Settings should retain next time it's opened.

Pretty sure other DAWs have similar functionality.

 

Many PC users still swear by WaveKnife for cutting up old sample cd's and getting rid of the silence in between the samples. I would give it a look, it will do at least some of the things you want.

 

I've cut out audio samples silence with dBPowerAmp, a beast of a program for batch processing audio. You can even specify a very low loudness threshold (i.e. -68dB) and then apply a nice short fade-out.
It can do all what you say but when it comes to bars I guess you'll need to calculate that in seconds/samples, since it's not a daw.
