    Hello Guys,
the last 3 days, I was installing DVD Rippers who promised me to be free and in the end it wasnt (or there was watermark in the video)....
Does anyone of you know a free or cheap DVD Ripper who is able to convert to MP4 or at least to AVI?
    Thanks a lot!

handbrake is good and i have used apps by xilisoft - but this was long time ago.

Inst the DVD quality horrible by todays standards? I gave up even downloading dvdrip/complete DVDs, because the size is so huge compared to the bad quality you get.

Have you tried MakeMKV? It's free because it's still in beta.

    Code:
    https://www.makemkv.com/download/

The current beta key can be found here:

Once again simply use VLC-Player (free)
    Here's how to do.

Additional info for point 7 in the explaination you can click on the wrench symbol to set bitrate for the video and audio stream.

I love step 1 'Make sure your computer has a DVD drive.' That sounds useful.

I think that's the best (paid) choice
Oh my, I didn't even remember that! I used it in 98 or 99 when CD overburning was an issue and you needed specific hardware to do that (mine was Yamaha) and specific sw: CDRWin.
Happy to see that MakeMKV worked. I'll try it too.

Different software with the same name. Version 4.0 was the last from Golden Hawk: https://web.archive.org/web/http://www.goldenhawk.com/

That software was really fantastic...as it was also able to burn Akai Sample CD's. But on modern Win machines it doesnt work anymore, because of the missing ASPI drivers.

You can install ASPI (FrogASPI etc.). It's not that much of a problem. The real problem is that supported recorders are hard-coded, so only those on the list will work, and these are really old drives by now. Only a few are SATA at all...
