Can anyone tell me what these knobs do and what does filter modifier, amp modifier, master filter, delay, reverb, and output do? Thanks in advance.

don't forget Jonathan, Nexus is using wav files (audio clips) to create those sounds, and so you are limited in what you can actually achieve, you can't load up a drum sound and expect to be able to change it into a piano sound.

Read the manual (search google to download), and definitely Youtube will have lots of tutorials.

also, check the tutorials on this forum
    http://audiosex.pro/index.php?/forum/64-audiosex-academy/

don't get frustrated, there is an awful lot to read up on and learn, everyone here are always learning new stuff, just take your time and you'll get there :mates:

One piece of advice I suggest is to get yourself a small midi keyboard, 25 key (2 octaves) would be ideal just to help you learn more about synths and you will find it a lot easier to get to grips with your software

Also Nexus is not really a synth. Its a rom/sampler.

I honestly think my friend, you are gonna learn a LOT more, (as well as have an absolute blast) by grabbing yourself a good VSTi synth and watching the tutorials.

Trust me, that way you will look at Nexus as a stroll in the park!

My suggestions would be the ever popular SYLENTH and MASSIVE.

There are literally 1000`s of Youtube tutorials for both synths and they are both REALLY capable of creating pretty much any sound that your heart desires. By learning those synths, or any others that might be suggested, you will have a firm understanding of sound sculpting and design. You are about to start out on some of the most rewarding musical exploration, and, if you stay the course, you will emerge from the other side a better producer.

    Have fun Bro! :mates:

Simply watch this 7 videos and you should understand all the basics about synthesis and what are all these knobs for!
This videos are no tutorials for a specific synthesizer they are basic knowledge!

After subtractive synthesis, jump into the subjects of FM, additive, granular, particle and vector synthesis.

but why u suggest videos after Syntorial has been introduced, should go through all the exercise of it one by one

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulLmILO1oV4

http://www.syntorial.com/ , videos are not too good alone without the possibility of practicing the knowledge acquired (and direct feedback based on challenge-response exercises)

Thank you everyone, I don't really expect to turn a drum sound into a piano sound. I just want the notes to not go off beat and overlap each other and I want it to be smooth and not choppy either. Why can't they make synth samples that sounds smooth like hollywood strings or east west goliath? You know just one note flowing smoothly to another no overlap no choppiness?

    like portamento?
anyways dude, best thing is learn it all in bits. Start with simpler synths before you can move onto the big boys. or you can at least start with the very basics by understanding adsr. go to your synths ignore everything else and mess about with adsr till you get the hang of it. at least if you know adsr you will be able to tweak your favourite presets to taste. good luck and have fun. :mates:

"Can anyone tell me what these knobs do and what does filter modifier, amp modifier, master filter, delay, reverb, and output do? Thanks in advance."

Anybody using Nexus or another synth could tell you.
    Why aren't we doing it?

Because we're not teacher, and we're not your mommy.
On internet, on webforum, in life : DO YOU F**ING PART BEFORE ASKING ANY QUESTION.
Have you tried to move these and check what they do?
Have you searched for a manual?
    Have you searched google?
    Have you searched for tutorials/lessons?

I'm all about caring, and willing to help, but, come on, can't you see the big difference between :

    - STUPID QUESTION : can someone learn me to use Nexus?

    - LESS STUPID QUESTION : Using Nexus, I can't seem to make the Guetta sounds, I tried this and that, but to no avail.

    - CLEVER QUESTION : I'm trying to do the Guetta sounds : [url to last Guetta hit on youtube or soundcloud], I'm using Nexus. I watched this tutorial about how to make a close sounds [url to a howto on how to make a Florida bass sound], but I can't seem to approach this fizziness in the high end. I tried [this], [those] and [that], any idea?

    Point is :
we all come across people leeching on others, and being dependant (ie. lazy) all day long. Why would we want to help on our spare time?
it's demanding. it won't make you better (tomorrow you buy something, you'll ask similar questions), it just pisses everybody off.
Make us want to help you.
