    Thanks, I know!
Aight aight, it's a small indie studio that made a huge hit game called Hollow Knight. No relation beyond the name, I was trying to joke.

I don't know on which criteria the judgments are based, but for me, on my system they sound pretty good!

Maybe not but according to the demo I heard, it's very close and I'm not sure one could hear the difference in a mix.

Some of these comments are designed to discourage you from trying these out. Just like anything else, these are good. If you want to sound like the hardware then buy the hardware. If you want to make music then use these because your listeners won't tell the difference. With that said, I haven't tried a single one but this is my opinion and mindset regarding all emulations.

They will not *know* the difference, or its causes; for certain. But they will hear the difference, even if they cannot tell. Almost a parallax. :guru:

just like when r2r released all the uvi stuff, or the east-west stuff, or cubase - you will always have people who come here to tell you how bad they are and don't waste your time downloading. as if there was a huge investment in time to be made. the only way you will know if this is something that will work well with your music is to give it a legitimate shot. and then, if you love it and you're making money in music, buy it.

Just for beginners is a good opportunity to exchange into the diverse world of music. It does not cost much money and a small midikeyboard is also cheap to get. Everyone starts small. At the beginning of the whole virtual software story, there were not many plugins that sounded good. Today after everything is feasible, the selection of good plugins is already huge.

Cleaner - Stronger - Clearer - More concise.
    Examples: Spectrasonics - Omnisphere 2, Lennar Digital - Sylenth , Waldorf - Largo, U-HE - Diva etc.

If possible, they should sound like the expensive original hardware synthesizers.
There are very few software synthesizers that can match the sound quality of the originals.

I compared Softube Model 84 with Cherry DCO-106. Softube definitely does a much better job emulating the Juno 106 (and I know because I have a hardware 106). I don't care too much about how authentic something is personally, but the difference invalidates what Cherry Audio is claiming:

"DCO-106 lovingly recreates the unique sonic footprint of one of the most iconic 80’s polysynths in exhaustive detail, while adding modern features for massively expanded creativity."

DCO-106 on itself is a great plugin because it does sound great, has more options and is cheap. It is a 106 in function and sound character, but it's definitely not an emulation in exhaustive detail.

O well. Nothing new in the world of marketing. Moving on :)

Their login-only DRM is what discourages me from trying it out.
I miss the days where demos were just quick downloads with white noise added with saving disabled. Now you have to activate a demo online!

Admittedly it's hard to be objective about sound when you don't even try them out. I listened to a bunch of demos and comparisons, and just didn't like what I heard. But personally I don't think they're worth the money. It's like I'm being told "its cheap, so its ok that its not the best emulation"... I have to disagree, they're not much cheaper than Plogue's OPS7, which imo is now the best DX7 emulation. Maybe if they were each 9.99 I would deal with the DRM, not buy lunch a few times and give them a fair test run.

Edit: Damn only now I realize why everyone is talking about them, I guess I have no excuse now!

Also the argument that 'listeners wont tell the difference', heh, what makes you think we even have listeners?:hahaha:

Maybe you should try being funny, either that or post in the humour forum so the laugh track can tell everyone it's a joke and to laugh.

so i have taken a little bit of time to compare the cherry audio 8voice to the gforce ob-e, and yes, there is a world of difference in the sound quality and realism. so for my purposes, the gforce is way better. but i still stand by what i said earlier - you never really know until you try it yourself.

I own a bunch of the cherry audio synths. I like them, for the price, but there are definitely better options for every one of them, and the novelty has worn off a bit. Ex., as @realitybytez stated, GForce OB-E is incredible sounding, and CA "Eight Voice" is nowhere near as good. Obsession is a lot better too. But that said, OB-E is $130USD on sale, Obsession is about $110USD, and Eight Voice is $19USD on sale. You definitely get what you pay for.

I have no problem with people saying they heavily prefer other options, but why the hell would you discourage R2R or others from releasing them? They may not work for your use, but you don't speak for everyone. It's good that to have the option, and if it isn't your cup of tea, just don't download it.
