You forgot to add Axiom. Certainly one of the best, but very underrated, probably because of its complexity.

My favorite is not even on the list...Peavey Revalver! I should mention I'm not a metal guy so I prefer clean to crunch tones.

Everything I need for guitars I found it in Neural, which isn't to say I don't play with Helix or Guitar Rig from time to time.

Torpedo Wall of Sound is only IR loader + post FX, afaik. Or have they made it a full fledge amp sim since I tested it a year ago?

V2 I meant to say. There´s still some places in the web where you can find it. V3 sounds different.

Edit. I was right, version 1.5.1 is still in my old Cubase 5 and it´s the best sounding of all three versions. It´s part of Plugin Alliance Complete V.2015 1.0 by you know who.

I agree that you can make good sounds with most of them as someone said. My preferences are:

    Fast and light:
    - My good oldie TSE X50 2
    - Kuassa 360 -> complete, the one without the big individual ones. amaaaazing wah pedal, also separately

    More hungry on resources:
    - NeuralDsp (Gojira because of the pedals)
    - Stl Tones (Benson and a couple more)

    Others
    - Helix -> complete, light on RAM, heavy on CPU
    - Overloud TH-U -> too much complete, very fast, but weights a lot on disk. I want a lite version lol

Tested ALL sims since the beginning of guitar sims (even hardware).

    Best plugin ?

TH-U with his Rig Player : it is a Kemper in plugin format.
    Other effects are very good.
As a COMPLETE solution, my best find.

As a "simpler" solution : Neural DSP

I own Waves GTR3, Scuffham S-Gear, Fuse Audio Labs F-59 and sknote's TwinR and Deluxe1. All are excellent but if I had to keep just one it would definitely be waves GTR

In my opinion, Neural DSP, Helix, Kemper and Mercuriall are simply the best ones. Everything else never sounded that good to my ears. Personally, I use mostly Omega Ampworks Granophyre by Neural DSP nowadays.

There is also a plugin called ReValver 4, which was pretty good back in the day and I don't see it on the list.

Kinda off-topic, but I've been looking for a decent Guitar emulation vst, and noticed a lot of amp sim and preamp\cabimet plugins are being marketed as "Guitar" plugins like that's the actual wordage, mot amp sim, or cabinet plugins. Like this. That is wholly inaccurate, why is this trend happening

Off topic yes. wholly inaccurate why? Developers can call their creations as they like. After all they´re all plugins.

I use Neural, but Brainworx's Suhr PT100 made for Universal Audio is a go-to. I don't know if that should go under Brainworx or Universal Audio, but one or the other could be added...

I always gravitate towards the Peavey 5150 sound so I tend to come back to using TSE X50, but I use version 1 which has been discontinued for many years. To my ear it sounds better than v2, but I do use the tube screamer that comes inside TSE X50 v2 before the amp. Put together against v2, v1 makes the chugs sound bouncier and I think more mid scooped. I tried messing with all the settings to get them sounding the same, and they always sound different.

after trying them all, at this point I found there's nothing better than the rigplayer in TH-U...only thing is the GUI of TH-U really sucks!
