Do you ever start mixing and finish with EQ/Balance/Pan and then check back on the unmixed tracks and think to yourself i'm not even sure if i improved it so far?

how do you deal with that if so

Taking a rest, getting your head out of that mix, returning later, ideally when the effect of the rum has worn out.

There's a highly illegal trick i've learnt to help you if you're in a hurry, but honestly, just clearing your head can do wonders.

 

Within a channel, for sure. That just happens.
How to deal with it? 1. laugh about yourself, make a break, do something different, reset the shit and start again.

 

I usually take a break, have a drink then find someone else to blame and pretend it was their fault. Then I have an other drink out of sympathy knowing it's not their fault but not willing to let then know that because then I would have to apologize. Then I have an other drink and start over.

 

This guy gets it.
