The software, developed by Didier Dambrin, acted as a pure MIDI drum machine in the first version 1.0 in 1997, the range of functions was soon expanded to include VST and DirectX support. Later releases turned FL Studio into complex digital audio workstation software. The software was developed using the Delphi development environment.

Numerous established producers use FL Studio, including Madeon , Brian Transeau , Basshunter , Martin Garrix , Avicii , Feed Me , Mike Oldfield , 9th Wonder , Afrojack , Imanbek , and Louis Bell (producer of Post Malone , among others ).

Now that they force you to be online, buying legit FL has kinda lost it's appeal for me. I'm not paying for software with always-online DRM. What if their servers are down, I have no internet, or they go out of business? No thanks. I like my independence.

you miss-understood the concept of online , online is just to register once you install new setup or for when you install new update , but still if you don't have online connectivity you can get the REG file from account to unlock it .

So you'll need around 100-200 kb data for around 5 minutes to get that REG key , I think you can spend afford that amount of data if you can come and comment on this post .lol

Fact :-You don't need to be always online to use FL studio .

I like FL but image-line refuse to address the CPU inefficiency it feels like it uses 5x more cpu compared to other daws. Once you add a few fx chains etc it doesn't give you headroom. I can get more midi and fx with Ableton even which is known to be more cpu intensive. Maybe with this update It'll get better? Maybe worse too.

I believe the new 21 version will be CPU efficient as compare to from all previous versions.

It's possible right now, in the current version and has been possible some times ago.
    1. Place an audio file or a pattern on the first track in playlist (for example Track 1).
    2. Then place an automation clip on the next track (for example Track 2).
    3. Right click the second track (Track 2) and choose 'Group with above track' from menu.
    4. Repeat this with all next tracks you want to hide (for example Track 3, Track 4 etc.).
    5. Use a little triangle on the first track to close grouped tracks.
    Done!
Tracks must be one under another. If they aren't just rearrange them ('Move up'/'Move down' in the track menu).

This is absolutely not the case for me. I am using the newest FL Studio on Mac Big Sur and it's perfectly stable and very CPU efficient compared to Cubase which I often use for mixing.

Not sure what your spec sheet is but for FL Mac, not only was it released natively before Ableton was, its still much more CPU efficient in every regard and does laps around it.

That comparison rings true for about every other daw on Mac other than Logic which has the special Apple treatment.

my computer is fine and more than adequate for production, Ryzen 3900x 32gb ram. It's just FL that is like this there are other threads in Image-lines forum that discusses FL's CPU issues compared to other DAW's. I know I'm not the only one.

I have the same setup and FL is definitely not CPU efficient. I run a RME Babyface Pro that runs perfect in every other DAW except for it.
