Hades is procedurally generated, but there's a lot of ready set-pieces because it's one of those rare roguelites that has a plot. But every run is random.

Seeing this thread pop up in the feed reminds of that one time when...

Infinity: Battlescape had just been released for early access. Almost every Elite Dangerous PvPer I knew rushed to check it out. Everyone was raving about it. Then, within a week, the game died. No kidding, Infinity: Battlescape's player count went from near 0 to thousands and then back to near 0 within such a short period of time. It was a very promising game but it didn't have a lot of content. Development seems to have stagnated.

Nowadays, no one I know plays Elite Dangerous anymore.

I recently finished Axiom Verge 2!

I got a decent way into Castlevania Symphony of the Night (by my math this would be my 12th playthrough), but got sidetracked booting up stuff on my PS4 that got desynched from my GOG Galaxy aggregator. Seriously, I have 350 games on PS4 & don't want to accidentally rebuy stuff on another platform again, I need my aggregator to show me what I have.

This month I also got into the Japanese indie video game site DLSite. It's mostly hentai games, but I'm more interested in the shmup clones. My favorite arcade game is Space Harrier, so I'm getting a Touhou Space Harrier clone called Space Marisar.

Oh I also just bought the Panzer Dragoon Orta remake, but I haven't booted it up yet. Nor Sayonara Wild Hearts. Basically I'm trying to get back into rail shooters.

Lately, I like to play soccer simulators. I really like to play football and racing simulators, it gives me a lot of pleasure. I also play card games and have recently started playing online slots in casinos. For a long time I was looking for information about the optimal casino that would suit me according to the conditions. information about the best Australian online casinos and realized that the conditions they offer are really very favorable. I loved the fact that the best Australian online casinos offer thousands of dollars, bonus codes, match bonuses or deposit bonuses.

Oh I didnt even know Axiom Verge 2 was out yet. Maybe not for PC? (I play PC)

I am playing Vigil: The Longest Night

Souls-like and Metroidvania are my two of my favorite genres, and this one combines both.

Edit: Looks like it's an Epic exclusive on PC.. boourns. I'll wait a bit and see if it hits other gaming platforms.

    Tetris Effect.

It's fantastic, first of all it's Tetris, but the whole presentation with the fusion of visuals and audio just elevates it.

It just puts you into a meditative zone, and it just calms your mind. Do try it!

Elden Ring. Just so many lovely, enchanting views, immediately interrupted by some horrible thing molesting you with spikes, magic or magic spiked tongues. It's incredible!

I've been steering clear of this because Dark Souls 3 is just so damned hard -- despite multiple attempts, I've never been able to make it past the first boss fight. It doesn't matter how pretty the game is if you can't make any progress in it. But you prompted me to watch a few YouTube videos and now I'm kinda sold.

I'm in the final stretch of my third play through of Pathfinder:Wrath of the Righteous. I'd played and enjoyed Pathfinder: Kingmaker but this is so much better in every respect. Great story that's significantly changed by the character choices you make.

It takes some time to adapt to Souls games, they're almost like turn-based RPGs, it's all about knowing what's coming next by "reading" the fight and deciding how much time you have - to do xyz attack / response. You have to learn by dying (lots of times!) You can run away / avoid fights, which is new, but mostly the game is telling you "you're not strong enough to fight this.. thing. Yet". You're supposed to die to the first boss in this, it progresses the story, so it's not a wall! You do have a lot more options than usual Souls games, too. I'd recd having a character w/ sorcery options, it's OP. Prolly the best game since BotW, similar vibe - no hand-holding.

Yah, I'm deep into Elden Ring now too. I'm a big fan of "Soulsborne" games. Finished/beat DS1-3 and Sekiro, plus a bunch of non From Soft Souls-likes, such as Mortal Shell, and The Surge 1&2. It's one of my more favorite genres.

For the sake of @BuntyMcCunty , I'm not sure if it's just because I'm used to the genre now, but I feel like Elden Ring is easier than the Dark Souls games.

And like @famouslut said, you really learn by dying a lot (although in this Elden Ring playthrough I tend to beat most bosses either on the first try or within a few... but I die lots elsewhere!). Your muscle memory eventually takes over as you learn when to dodge, or block or parry, or attack, etc. They are definitely challenging games. I hated Dark Souls when I first played it. The interface.. the controls.. everything just felt like such hot garbage compared to what I was used to. Plus, it was frustrating at first, dying so much. Now I absolutely love these games.

I don't know if I can bring myself to have another go at Dark Souls. I'll take a shot at Elden Ring though.

I got Elden Ring, but I'm almost afraid of actually starting it. I love all of the Dark Souls and all of them were slow to get into for me, but always ended up a massive time and soul sinks. I'm sure this will happen with ER as well.

I'm a mainstream console (PS4) gamer so it's Horizon Forbidden West for me at the moment.
Games have to be visually attractive to me and the gameplay needs to be fun and mechanics need to work.
If one of the latter is failing I can lose interest very quickly.
But Horizon is a 8.5/9 to me.

Gaming used to be a hobby but now it's it's more of a distraction from life or from writer's block when it comes to making music.

I'm currently not just playing but working on developing online Coding Games for Kids. I think that coding is the future and that kids could learn from a younger age what coding means and its basics. Playing these games will also develop computational thinking and logical reasoning. It will be a very useful skill for them. What do you think about this? It would be interesting to find out your opinion. Also, share with me what games you play now. Maybe there is something I didn't try.
