Hello all I hope all is well.

I am thinking of going to legit cubase and I have some questions ....

I had a diff version of 12 and it didn't work out that well and when i uninstalled and went to another version of cubase 12 it's still buggy. SO...

what do I have to do if I want to go legit?

I know about basic uninstall but what else would I need to do?

I will be getting 12 Elements and If there is any information yall need I will provide. Thanks so much for your time and patients and I hope i'm not inconveniencing anyone or breaking any rules.

 

First, there are only 5 Elements in the universe.
Second, as a doctor i won't give you a single one of my patients.
About your question, make a clean uninstall, also clean the registry and everything should be fine!

Always install a fresh new windows.
It's probably not cubase that is bugging.
More likely your operating system

 

Thank you for your answer. Is there any tutorials on how to do clean the registry? I have no idea how to do that properly.

 

interesting. Before I did all of this I downloaded a trial of cubase 11 and everything was fine. I might just do that though ill have to reinstall a few things. Thanks for your reply.

EDIT, when reinstalling or repairing windows you can keep programs etc would that be ok to choose that option or do i need to do a whole "reinstall"

Do a whole 'reinstall' and all the latest updates. Always good to start fresh. There could be all kinds of registry enties and other files that you'd want to get rid of.

 

Before you go through the chore of reinstalling windows, I'd try a couple of known good registry cleaners:
Uninstall everything you have to, like cubase and kontakt, using an uninstaller if possible, like iobit uninstaller or similar.
When finished uninstalling, reboot.
Run as many registry cleaners as you want, one at a time, and always reboot after a registry clean. Ccleaner, Glary utilities, Advanced system repair pro, jv16 powertools, s.o.s security suite and reg organizer are some I know and work fine.
If after all those steps you still have O.S. problems, then its time to fresh install.

 

im gonna try this. I mananaged to delete a lot more than i did before and it fixed almost ALL my issues but when i save a file and relocate it or rename the folder the project is saved in most of the time it will not load it just stalls.

i fix this by making a back up in cubase and it seems to work.

You know that you can use cracked versions as legit if you have bought the license?

And: if you don't mess with your OS (Windows I assume in this case) - means: do not "optimize", shut up phoning home is OK - there is no need for "clean" install. That is all a myth over and over told by the have-no-clues-but-know-it-all-betters.

My 20 €urocent.

 

I use IOBit Uninstaller Pro. Good for cleaning up the registry and appdata/programdata. There's always license keys available on Youtube etc. Some IOBit stuff pesters you to get their other products, but Uninstaller doesn't seem to.

 

1.) Manually Uninstall Steinberg Cubase AI 4 with Build-in Uninstaller
Most computer programs are installed with its build-in uninstaller that can also help uninstall the program.

* Click Start menu and move your mouse to All Programs.

* Find Steinberg Cubase AI 4 folder and click on its Uninstaller.

* Follow its uninstaller and uninstall the program.

To run its uninstaller, you can also

* Go to the folder where the program is installed.

* Locate its uninstaller usually named as unins000.exe or uninstall.exe

* Double click on its uninstaller and follow it to uninstall the program.

Please know that both of Windows Add/ Remove Programs and its build-in uninstaller can only uninstall the main executable files of the program, but not all program files and components. Some invalid files may be left in system registry and folders. To completely remove Steinberg Cubase AI 4, you need to get rid of those remnants, otherwise, it will slow down your PC and block you installing other incompatible programs.

2.) To thoroughly delete its files, please follow the steps:

* Run Registry Editor

* Find and delete all registry entries of the program " Steinberg " in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

* Find and delete all files of the program in system folders C:\Program Files\, C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ and C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\.

4.) This is the cleanest way to wipe your Windows machine of Cubase VST. Click on the “uninstall” icon in the Cubase VST folder in the Steinberg Folder. Choose the “Custom” option when asked what kind of uninstall you’d like to do. Then proceed to click on “Select All” and “Next.” When you’re almost finished click on “Yes to All” when prompted to delete the following shared files.
You’ll be informed the uninstall was successful and that a reboot is needed. Do not reboot the computer just yet as the Registry needs to be cleaned of Cubase VST

From the Start button, go to “Run and type in regedit in the “Open” box. When the System Registry editor opens, click on the + next to “H Key Local Machine.”. Then click on the + next to Software. From this pull down set of folders, delete the ASIO, Steinberg, Syncrosoft and VST folders. When you are asked if you want to delete the keys, click on yes. Once these folders/keys are deleted, close the registry editor, reboot and the computer and reinstall Cubase VST form your CD Rom. This will give you the cleanest possible install. You may have to reinstall your sound card’s ASIO drivers.

5.) Use CCleaner and clean your system, then please restart the PC.
