He bought 50 controllers yet failed to buy one normal sized monitor. No wonder he got gear anxiety, working on that tiny 13" monitor can ruin your spirit.
Some of us buy gear so we can use it during production, like analog synths, we are not into collecting.

He should take a vacation. Off to the mountains. Clear his head.
The end is usually a new beginning.
P.S.: Leave the cell phone at home! Stay offline for 2 Weeks.
After that the world looks different.

So a guy that only makes tutorials online did a thing and people freak out (the only Multiplier songs on Spotify are from 2013).

The whole tutorials and “community” (reddit, discord, forums) world is so so wrong.

From helping people that make music to make better music, we devolved to having people that spend more than a decade watching tutorials and replying to all forum posts, while making zero music.

Everybody “knows” all there is to know to make music and has available all the software imaginable and yet, most make no music.

Literally we witness this fake education acting like a drug, hooking users on consuming content forever until they forgot why they wanted to make music in the first place. What a fantastic time to be alive

Well, I felt like a psychologist listening to this guy's gear issues.
Ok, so sell all your midi input devices.....now input midi on QWERTY keyboard if you ever need to.
Sell all of your mics.......fuck it, record vocals on the laptop mic.
Sell all of your drums/drum pads.......fuck it, use loops.

He's driving himself insane because all he does is click a mouse all day as his hobby and to support himself.....on a laptop......in an empty room. Sounds like he's going through withdrawal.

It can be summerized in two sayings:
    a) Blind leading the blinds
    b) The easiest way to make money in music is off the back of musicians
    I absolutely loathe that scene.

He already took a one-year break. I followed this guy because I'm fascinated by his style, it's like a mix of ASMR and tutorial. I watch it and I'm like "yes, whisper me how to do that thing I already know how to do like I'm a complete moron". The most interesting thing about this is that 5 years ago his way of speaking was the complete opposite, he used to sound like an annoying british scenester.
To be clear, I'm not trashing him, I kinda like him, he's just playing the youtube game and some of his videos are actually good.

the only way to really "fuck up" is by buying things new, selling something rare that you cannot replace, paying too much for something, or selling something for less than it is worth. Math, not Feng Shui. If someone needs to feel Zen, or minimalist, to work; that's solely preference. Neither will hinder your work or make you crank out more stuff.
I watched until section 4, and right at the end he says he has a fresh slate, new start, and so on. I bet it will become space for new gear soon enough. Just more carefully selected for how he is working now. :)

The trick is to start making music with the basics like a good computer, good monitor speakers with a 6.5" mid/low driver, a good dynamic mic like SM58, audio interface that is not hi-end but it's decent enough [iD14?] and has enough I/O for possible future upgrades, and a decent MIDI keyboard with all kinds of MIDI controllers on it like MPK49 or similar. Then as you make music, your knowledge will grow and you will figure out what you need to upgrade your studio and make your work sound better.

The worst case is when people have a lot of money and buy all the gear and plugins at once. That rarely works well. Your studio should grow with your music and needs.

He is a mathematician and investment banker but not a musician, here is his statement from his website, I quote:

    MY STORY
As a little bit about me and the story of Multiplier, here's a bio I wrote recently:

I started using Ableton about 10 years ago, when I was studying maths at the University of Cambridge, all on track to be an investment banker. Dubstep looked like more fun though, so I decided to pursue music instead. I finished up my degree, but by the time I finished, I had started earning my income by DJing and producing music as Multiplier - earning a bit of extra money creating sample packs for Loopmasters too.

Whilst my primary focus has shifted every few years (from touring, to sample packs, then tutorials), I've got involved in almost every side of the electronic music space. I've DJ'd internationally, charted on Beatport, run a record label, released top10 sample packs (with Loopmasters, Splice, Industrial Strength, CAPSUN ProAudio, 5Pin Media), mixed, mastered, and created tutorials and courses for all the biggest platforms (Sonic Academy, Ask.Audio/MacProVideo, Groove3, Pensado's Place, DJTechTools, Plugin Boutique, Pyramind). I've also coached and consulted producers both new and professional, as well as educated and entertained millions as an 'influencer' on YouTube (as Multiplier on my channel - 10 million views, 80k subscribers). With sponsored videos and product placement on the channel I've connected with most of the audio companies - including Ableton, Pioneer DJ, Native Instruments, Sennheiser, Arturia, Mixed in Key, iZotope, FabFilter, Roli, Output, DistroKid, Splice, Loopmasters, Cymatics, eMastered, Clyp, AudioBlocks, Melodics, Noiiz, Future Audio Workshop, SoundGym, SynthMaster, Tone2, D16 & AudioThing. I love it all. I've worked with every genre, and I love the process of helping others create the best art they can - both on a technical level, and a creative one.

Sometimes it even growths with the unexexpected. For example, I had a TRACK IR (HEAD TRACKING) device laying around for my gaming days, so now I´ve converted it into an amazing 6DOF MIDI controller that modulate things with every movement of my head (XYZ/Pitch/Roll/yaw) when Jamming. It´s my most fun and useful controller by far in my humble studio and it´s nowhere to be found.
