Thank you for your assessment. But I see it a little differently.

If you put enough money on the table as a producer, you can get programmers to do the job. You also have to look into the future and see what the world will look like then. Behringer is a powerful company that still makes money and will continue to do so in the future, in my opinion.

There are many future users who are not even born yet.The world is supposed to be a different one, where you don't own much any more, but instead a lot is borrowed, shared and exchanged.

Every company tries to retain customers. Wages will probably no longer rise, inflation, rising energy prices and higher food prices will be a problem. people will have less money to spend. And then Behringer comes along as the saviour and the cheapest and best makes the race for the buyers' favour.

All this poison poured over Behringer.... WTF, they're just another manufacturer like any other.
And almost everyone in anything electronic has it built in China. So what?
I own several Behringer products and am very happy with the ones I've picked out.
I see no 'desperation' in what they do or say. Just marketing. Like everyone else.

Actually, they're not. Just think that in a few years, Behringer have gone from budget manufacturer into the champions league of the best-selling gear. Until a few years ago, Behringer was a small factory in Germany, now they own an entire production district in W̶u̶h̶a̶n̶ (Edited: Shenzhen & Zhongshan) and various branches around the world. This gigantic boom should make you understand that they are not like the others: no audio manufacturer has grown as fast as they have in recent years, it must necessarily have something different.
As far as I know, Uli's success (from 2016 onwards) can be summed up as follows:
    • Extremely aggressive marketing strategies
    • Relocation to China
Although these choices have been commercially successful, both are very controversial from an ethical point of view:
    - The massive teasing of exceptional performance products at a very low price turned out to be mostly vaporware.
    - Serious intellectual property issues.
    - Horrible working conditions of its Chinese workers (exploitation).
    - Low level components used in the products and a poor quality control in general.

Uli's strategy is based on constantly walking in that thin line between rightness and wrongdoing and I believe this is the secret of his success (also the reason for so much hatred)

I want to know what's up with Behringer as I don't follow these trends a lot. Im reading these post here and behringer seems controversial. Someone told me back in 2012 that behringer is just simply chinese from then. Ok we have gotten a behringer x touch and it seems like a quality product. But what is the ip problems they have? are they hypocrites?

Music tribe city is not in wuhan?!!? I though its in Zhongshan not sure about that name but it is in that Macau, Hongkong Shenzen area, south coast.
And this factory exists for 20 years now. A few years ago Behringer expanded this factory. And if i am not mistaken Behringer produces in china since the 90`s. But I might be wrong.

Ok, I just double check and yes, their facilities are in Shenzhen & Zhongshan (surroundings of hong kong)
In 1990 Uli Behringer started to collaborate whith Chinese factories, since 1998, he started relocating. Music Tribe was born in 2018: that is Behringer's factory as we know it today

Behringer uses the same business model as Aldi. trick suppliers into their ecosystem, force them to drop prices, take them over. copy famous brands by exploiting cheap chinese laborers. the day i will give uli 1 eur will be the day i stop making music.

ps.: the enabling kids is a trojan horse. the invitation to devs should be considered a threat.

Ultimately, the buyer decides for himself which product he wants to buy or, in other words, no one is forced to buy from Behringer.

I love Behinger and their concept of cloning the most popular equipment and making it affordable. It's like commercial grade cracking, and I love that. But I gotta be honest, this reads like this is where the DAW dies. I hope I'm wrong cause I feel like it would surprise people and be good, but this pretty much seems like the end of the road for the idea.

It's all about skimming off the top with a store that is deeply embedded in the application (DAW in this case). They presumably looked at things like the Android/Apple app store, software like Output Arcade and thought, that's where we need to be.

    I agree.

Just the announcement of a DAW should make users curious and they then try to get you on their websites to sell you a product. The user data is also evaluated. After all, people are talking about the new DAW and if only 1 in 1000 users buys a product by mistake, that's a win. The goal is to stay in the conversation. The goal of every company in this world is only one: To make a profit.

Almost EVERYTHING is made in China.

Apple fanboys ... i'm especially talking to you : your iphones are made in THE SAME factory than some android phones
Most knifes "made in USA" are ASSEMBLED in USA. Parts are made in China.

I could speak about this for days.
You hate Behringer because they "stole" and made "cheap copy" products ?
But those products where ALREADY "copies" of something.

Microsoft "stole" from Apple ... who "stole" from Xerox

"INNOVATION" is a myth : every idea come from rationality and reality
Only your ego tells you "i'm God : i created something from nothing with my only brain"

Behringer is a company like ANY other : they just fill a capitalist niche

Meanwhile, China is already too expensive and Canon, for example, is already producing its printers in the next low-wage country Vietnam to keep up with the competition. The raw materials come from many other countries and the raw materials are becoming scarcer and more expensive. Please do not forget that there are people working who receive a low wage and have to live from the job.

On the other hand, we are glad that manufacturers produce things at all.

I think the goal of Uli have always been to sell more hardware.

If he was managing to release a new DAW + plugs completely integrated with - let's say - a range of pro interfaces, synths, expanders and FX (remember, this is exactly how Pro Tools conquered its supremacy in the pro studio world years ago - not exactly the case today, but still a reference), it could be an really interesting bet.

There is still a demand for a totally integrated, coherent solution which could cover most of the needs of recording, mastering and post-production studios.

...But I'm not sure the guy and his company could be up to the real challenge the elaboration and manufacturing of such a solution implies. I think that if it's to simply compete with Bandlab and other manufacturers of free software solutions, he's already a loser.

The only solution I see to really exist in this overcrowded market: make all the softs open source, create a true, active, big community of contributors like for example VCV Rack. But question: could an open source Behringer app(s) really compete with a sophisticated - and since longtime aiming the pro audience - solution like Ardour? Can't help being very skeptical...

While I don't want to downplay Uli's efforts here, more choice is always more choice and good, and I'd imagine that for a lot of newcomers getting a bundle that has everything in it, an interface, a controller and integrated software would be great.

But realistically I think Behringer should do what pretty much everyone else does: license Ableton Live Lite.

If it doesn't work without an internet connection I don't consider it "free". Same with Cakewalk by Bandlab.

There is nothing for free, everything has its price. You pay with your data.
