VSL has started a round of promotions while all its products have been migrated to iLok.

Edit: MIR plugin version/Suite Pro are not available for ilok.

No different from other iLok products.

For users moving from a USB E-licenser to an iLok, they need to plug in both the USB E-licenser and the iLok, and the sampler will convert the VSL content of the project in the background.
However, the iLok only needs to be plugged in if the user remains online.

After the conversion is completed, the user can re-save the project to complete the migration.
Migrating to iLok is free.

 

I think it's technically possible, but it doesn't mean seeing it.
VSL's products are very expensive and without subscriptions, it's hard for suppliers to offer them unless R2R releases an emulator like UVI - yet the VSL library is even bigger than the Hollywood orchestra..

 

It's interesting that some companies are moving away from iLok and, creating their own in-house activation/registration process.
When another developer comes along that offers a similar, or better technology, without the hassle of eLicenser & iLok, what will VSl do then?

There is always the possibility that one of the major DAW developers could also include this type of feature in a form that actually functions as expected.

 

Don't know if this is a good idea for VSL.... The elicenser is still mostly uncracked, ilok is not...

And it really looks just like a bad idea, I mean... So many companys are moving away from dongles. Even Steinberg recognized that dongles are too much of a hassle. Somehow they really deserve to get cracked...

 

I wonder what it would be like on the other end of things after an R2R emulator release like Falcon. For a minute, someone had to think "damn this upcoming sale really has this shit flying off the shelf! yearly sales are up %2000, in the last 15 minutes" (figuratively)....

 

Maybe they are doing this in the hope of getting cracked? And hopefully have more customers ultimately?

 

more likely because of this: VST hosting on the Mac, allowing for full compatibility with Windows

if their software is functioning as an "attack vehicle" for Mac users to use their program and somehow end up with cracked ilok protected windows plugins at the end of the vm rainbow....

that would be an easy decision. " your ilok issue = your problem again. ". maybe there is even some liability if they do not fix something like that...idk

Elicenser is buggy.
Steinberg stopped Elicenser's business so VSL would no longer be able to sell their products to customers in the future, and PACE, while one of the hackers' targets, was reliable on many levels, even though users hated them.
Perhaps VSL cannot afford the cost and risk of building its own authorization system.

 

That's not how it works, if you had a single clue about anything you would be cringing at your stupid comment right now

 

Here's what I understood.

- You can keep using eLicenser for a while but eventually the servers will shut down and you won't be able to activate licenses or manage activations.
- You can't use both eLicenser and iLok on the same system, they recommend to choose either one or the other, and to move over to iLok in 2022.
- Lost, stolen or damaged iLoks can be covered by PACE's Zero Down Time protection and the Theft & Loss coverage if you choose to pay for that.
- If you lose a license and don't have ZDT T&C, VSL will replace your license for 25% of the original purchase cost. That used to be half in the past.
- You have to redownload all of your purchased libraries for iLok to work.

Someone correct me if I got anything wrong. The changes are a pretty big move in my opinion.

As for R2R and their colleagues, not to be disrespectful, but if they can't or won't proper their more challenging iLok releases that have not been cracked properly (Liquidsonics for example), I wouldn't get my hopes up in seeing any of this liberated anytime soon. They described that the harsher iLok protections are very exhausting to defeat. I would expect nothing less from VSL. They have been among the most anti-consumer company in the audio world out there, in my opinion, so you can be sure that they will incorporate as much agony into their implementation as possible.

and exactly how is iLok "a hassle"?? Have you ever switched computers before...? Its the biggest time saver that you could ask for... but I get it, shit on ilok because everyone else does, its the "cool" thing to do

I have an inactivated eLicenser license, not sure how to recover it and activate it on iLOK.

Are you living under a rock? Steinberg did exactly the same thing with Cubase 12, what stops the others from following that? And there's a thread titled Wasn't it too easy to crack Cubase 12 Pro? on this same forum which I guess you should take a look at
