i was pointing that out considering that a lot of people were whining about them not being the first one with a cracked version.... like if R2R owed them something

For that matter how does anyone know that any cracked software won't stop working at some point? How long until you stop wondering if this time will be the one where your cracked registry or licences or whatever it is gets picked up on and all of a sudden disabled. But saying that, my sd3 has never stopped working, and all my waves plugins, and I've only just recently updated them to the latest version. Is it just nerves or some sort of subconscious disbelief that the latest cubase Pro has actually been cracked? Ah well, whatever happens happens, if it gets disabled I guess I'll go back to reaper lol

 

I was about to say, the Mac version doesn't seem to be giving up the goods quite so quickly. But maybe those guys are just happy Logic users also.

 

I too was very surprised that after so many years with the dongle, Steinberg switched to software protection. Maybe it's not about protecting anything, but thinking about sales.

What is better?

1) 100% of 10,000 users are legitimate
2) 10% of 200,000 users are legitimate

Everyone knows that 2 is better. Steinberg discovered it recently

This a legit concern but with many vaccinated soft you have small chances for bad surprises.
With Cubase Pro 12 you have various concerns:
- It's a brand new major release (12.0.0) so for starters there's bugs in the legit version
- First time since forever it's even vaccinated
- You have three vaccinated versions

Personally for me, I read R2R's version forces you to install a very low-level security-wise thing, the trusted certificate. Although I trust R2R (no pun intended but still sounds funny lol) this makes me prefer VR's.
Before someone says you can have surprises in every cr*cked soft; ok it's true. But would be a hell more difficult to track the problem if involves trust(security) certificates.

it's the same strategy people from presonus or ableton have done: the more users you have, the more feedback and more ''talk about your software'' you will have

 

You can log certstore events in Event Viewer (duh). Can't remember the exact events but it's doable.

 

Cubase 13 will be back to dongle.
Steinberg always got that talent to ruin everything... *cough* IPO *cough*
They have to solve this cracking problem or they are ruined... again.

Well, VR's solution also installs a Team VR Root Certificate, and where as R2R's is only a Code Signing cert (to provide Authentication and Integrity of their code), VR's is an All function cert. VR also replaces the Wintrust.dll, which is dangerous and de-stabilizing. R2R's cert appears to be the safer way to go.

 

Oops, I guess I'll stick with Studio One and Reaper. I only wanted to test a vaccinated Cubase Pro 12 because seems fun.

well if anyone remembers TEAM A.i.R crack of cubase 5 it took 4000 man hours to crack it,

 

I was trying C12 r2r on my laptop just to see if it was worth upgrading my legit 10.5. It installed fine but I noticed one bug right away. When moving a MIDI fader in Mix Control no reaction occurs in the respective VST Instrument. Seems like CC7 (or whatever it is inside the code) is not transmitted. It is no problem on my buddy's legit C12 on a Mac. Audio faders work as expected. So in Halion Sonic SE 3 you have to assign a separate audio output to each Midi Channel to control a standard midi file. It's no great thing but still annoying. Has anyone else experienced such behaviour or ist it just my installation?

 

No matter how much anyone learns about programming, one of the first things they are taught is a little history. One of the first bugs ever found was by Grace Hopper. Later puns of 'grasshopper' emerged and from that they pretty much emphasise that there is no such thing as 100% bug-free software, no matter how great the programmer is. Microsoft since DOS made a killing (fortune) with "The bugs in DOS 6 will be fixed in DOS 6.1....will be fixed in DOS 6.2....will be fixed in DOS 6.22..." ... then service packs....then Windows update to replace them....and not much has changed. Other corporations are not too different except occasionally. what used to be free, now you pay for.

EASY? - I have a simple philosophy on that. If it was easy everyone here would be doing it for themselves.

Is it possible to install these versions of Cubase 12 on Windows 8.1? I know that officialy is only windows 10 and above, but did somenone tried?
