AMD: "Stuttering" under Windows 11 to be fixed in May

AMD has commented on the continuing problems of the fTPM (Firmware Trusted Platform Module) under Windows 11. Due to an error of the virtual module, an unwanted "stuttering" has been occurring in connection with the new operating system for some time. According to AMD, the error is supposed to be fixed with a BIOS update that they want to release in May. End users can disable fTPM until then or purchase an external TPM module for their system (via "Tom's Hardware").

I heard that the issue was found on Win11 at the first time, but several posts are saying it occurs on Win10 too. I read that news you mentioned about AMD's BIOS fix plan, but I think May is too far. Maybe turning off fTPM on BIOS helps people for now, if your mainboard support it.(but mine doesn't have an option to turn off fTPM )

We don't need TPM or Secure Boot anyway. I never use them. You can safely disable any Intel services that IME installs in any Windows, too.

That's one of the reasons why I also like to use "lite" versions of Windows. It runs smoother and contain everything you need for making music, without any MS garbage. LTSC is always a better choice because it doesn't come with MS Cortana and MS Store by default. [you can always install those if you want]

Hello @ArticStorm, I've never heard of the vanilla version, how did you get the version. I have a normal Windows 10, I have manually deactivated everything myself and have never had problems again, runs pesky free and stable. The future is our data and the big players will do everything to get our data. Most users are too stupid and always say, I have nothing to hide. Most users voluntarily disclose their data. The intelligence agencies are very happy about TPM, because they can control the computer.

 

LT means Long Term, as you may know. Literally it can't be NOT supported by any software if it already was at the time the LTSC version already existed. And if the hypothetical case arrives, LT just gets an update and done. There's a reason it's named LT.

 

MS may not care enough about Ableton. Or maybe Ableton was never meant to run on LTSB and LTSC branches of Windows and they did just cause philanthropy.
Anyways, I highly recommend to use LTSBs or LTSCs versions to avoid huge amounts of bloatware.

 

Many large companies have suffered billions in losses from hackers and the companies asked Microsoft to make the operating system more secure from attacks. The result is the TPM.

I'll have to look into this bug more.
I've been having issues with multitasking where something as simple as opening a basic webpage in a different tab will cause a YouTube video or audio playback to temporarily stutter. It likely happens all the time, but those are things that can't be ignored.

I'm on Win 10 and it definitely shouldn't be happening with 16 cores and 64GB of RAM, but I always figured it was something I screwed up which can happen when installing a million different things.
