VR version generates ELicencers "fake" licence for a lot of libraries and VSTs (Groove Agent, Halion, The Grand, Retrologue, etc...) based on their previous "fake eLicencer" local licences generator (mostly based on Absolute 5 "b25" generator).
So : the fake licences are there, they dont need to crack exe or activation.

TC-Team seems to "bypass" license using cracked activation manager and cubase.exe.

Two different way to do the job.
But which one is the most reliable ?

TC+
For people having legit licenses the VR crack interferes with legit licenses and most likely Steinberg can see you are using cracked stuff if you need to "reorganize" via eLic center. That may lead to problems when you need support from Steinberg.
In this usage scenario TC would be the better choice.
But there may be pieces of the code that may not work or have timebombs, because this type of crack needs to catch all licenser calls, not just most. Time will show if they worked perfect or only almost perfect.

VR+
For users with no original licenses on USB licenser or eLic VR is a great crack because you get a huge collection of other Steinberg software and extensions. And it works.
Negative is the possible interference with legit software on the PC as mentioned above. Before installing it on a productive machine, test it or at least make a backup befor you install it.

let's say i just built a new computer and i currently do not have any daw installed. it sounds like vr version would be better maybe?

my question is, who cares? i mean we have finally a working cracked version of cubase (i mean it has the same issues as legit ones) and even more than option... discussing which one is the best shouldn't even be a thing

 

VR version, it just messes with the license, cubase is untouched and works like the legit one

 

My answer is: I do! Not so much which crack is better than the other, but more in regards to what are the pros and cons of each version. This so I know which version suits me better. The response of @twoheart is exactly the information I was looking for when coming to this thread. Choices have consequences and I for one find it very nice to know some upfront (if possible) instead of having to reinvent the wheel all over again by trial and error and waste precious time. So yeah, I care and I thank @trz303 and @twoheart !!

How can we know if a crack for cubase pro is good or not ?
It's simple ! If one day, a team posts a cracked cubase, and 12 hours later, it gets DMCA'd and removed from audiozz, then, we will all know the hacking team has done a good job, and is walking on the right path

 

I would think the unmodified binary would always be more respected by other reversers. It is closer to an exact copy of the Retail Product.

 

I'm using the VR version, and haven't ran into the first problem yet, so far, so good......

 

I'm a legit 12 pro user*, so i haven't got any particular need for a liberated version. All the same, I very much look forward to reading R2R's forensic analysis of these releases & Steinberg's new protection generally...

Its a miniscule patch.

 

To early to say which is more stable as the underlying program has not been prove in the wild yet. Ask the question again in three months.

As for the install method. I f I had not already installed the V.R. version, the TC version may have been chosen but, likely not.

The V.R. version installed & launched without issue. I have only had one issue where Cubase 12 quit after manually editing the xml file for plugin descriptions. Started by adding missing categories to plugins. Categories now appear as edited and, no more crashing.

I expect poorly coded VST2 & some VST3 plugins will cause random issues for some users.

 

Just get control of any Processes/Apps/Programs as needed. Especially 'Telemetry'. Windows 10 optimization is key.

 

if the V.R version messes with the activation manager, will it interfere with the previous installation of other Steinberg stuff ? I have all of the others installed using AiR team release (the one with the awesome keygen song, if anyone remembers). Still waiting for the retired AiR members to release their version, but they probably are working on the keygen track.

 

Both versions randomly crash for me. You will notice after few hours of intensive working. You will NOT notice crashes if you just open GUI, click around a bit and everything looks fine there.

Just don't think Steinberg suddenly gives out thier top-of-the-line product THAT easy after having t protected heavily for years.

 

If cubase 12 was cracked, that means that you can install cubase 10, 9.5, 8.5 without a dongle and crack it the same way probably.
I really hope they release at least a cracked 9.5 Pro. Stable and better GUI.

 

Sorry no, we official cubase users can use all these old cubases with....our dongle. They will not remove the dongle for old releases afaik. This does break that you could install all older versions to open older projects, but if you upgrade from 11 to 12 you do get to keep your v11 licence on a dongle or softelicener (if you have elements), but it is then changed to non upgradable, so you can't use it to get another v12. But people new to v12 don't need older versions to open older projects.
By the way, from C6 an onwards all project open in all versions. So you can open a C12 project in C6. I once rescued a project from C10.5 that would crash on opening by first opening it in C6 saving it and then it was fine again also with 10.5. That only worked with C6, all later versions had the same crash.
