Running a clean new system with Cubase 12, I noticed that Loopmash, Mystic, Prologue and Spector are no more part of the "built in" VST instruments ...

Is there a way to get them back in Cubase 12 without re-installing the whole Cubase 11 thing ... ?

Some of my old projects are using those VST ...

As far as I know it is not possible to make them work in Cubase 12 as they are not part of factory content anymore. The only way is probably to keep C11 alongside C12 for backward compatibilty.

 

Mmh seems that copying the following files from Cubase 11 to Cubase 12 will re-enable the VSTs but without presets

“C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\VST3\SynthEngine.vst3”
“C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\VST3\LoopMash_x64.vst3”
“C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\pulseOSC_x64.dll”

I dont have C11 anymore so I cant test, I need to create a VM just for installing C11 again and grab the files there to test it ...

If anyone has the files and can up them somewhere I'll be gratefull ...

 

One of my favorite sounds is Harmonic Pad in Prologue.
I went looking for Prologue a few times and eventually discovered it was made by VirSyn.
And their product Virsyn TERA 2 and 3 can come close to that sound as it has the same synth modes but it can't get close enough and lock in the Partials. It is perfectly tweaked in Prologue. I hope at some point to check out a recent x64 ver.

Right now I am trying to make a Harp sound in my Yamaha EX5 and it is not going well. I only have the PRE waves and have not tried its sampling yet.

 

Problem is that old Cubase project using Loopmash, Mystic, Prologue or Spector will not load correctly even if I have Virsyn Tera installed.

I'm not trying to find an alternative to those legacy Steinberg VST, but a way to load old projects using those VST ...

Those VSTs can be re-enabled in C12 if you have the files from a previous Cubase version :

Hi @trz303, can you use your project from v11 and listen ?

 

I took the "missing" files from my legit V10 Pro.

Result :

- Prologue is listed in "Synth" folder in V12, but no preset at all. It could be loaded & works great.
- Mystic and Spector : not listed anywhere

- Loopmash : VST is detected but there is no licence available in VR eLicenser generator b25.

A far as TC-TEAM doesnt generate eLicenser fake licences but use a cracked .exe instead, maybe it will work with their version, I dont know, I didnt check it yet.
