I have created this poll because i am sure that i am not the only one having second thoughts or postponing some planned investments due to the ongoing crisis that is affecting us more and more.
It looks like 2022 will be even crazier than 2020-2021

There something not really right in your presentation:

Title: Did you stop buying hardware? ( world crisis )

    Two of the answers:

Yes, hardware and software, i am extremely nervous.
I am buying more hardware and software than ever.
    ....................
    Also
Since when? 1 week? Three years?
Which one of the world crisis do you refer to?

Sorry there are too many lately... :(

I've been thinking about this a lot and my only question is if the prices will ever be as they were 2-3 years ago? At this point in time I don't think so.

Pick the crisis that gives you the most anxiety, lol.

I added software to add some diversity to the poll.

Considering it's almost impossible to get work, keep work, pay bills and rent, food and gas is skyrocketing... yeah I'm not buying anything.

"Polls" like these seem to exist only for their own sake.

What is the point exactly? What do you hope to learn and how will this assist you....or anybody?

Seeing this picture makes me really want to buy one of these. And i would if I hadn't already spent £500 on hardware this month,

So, that'll be a no then....

I stopped buying hardware when i realized i wasn't really using it that much, and that was a while ago, even before the pandemic.

So...i did stop but also nothing changed?

We've been allocating extra funds towards large bulk food purchases (dry goods, rice, oats, beans, etc) in case things get bad. Always better to be prepared, within reason.

With that said, I have a personally-imposed cease & desist order when it comes to buying more gear. I have bought a few bits of software here and there but in terms of hardware, I have it squared off down to what I use and only that.

Buying components for the desktop worked quite well, price were also very good. (Everything besides the RAM was on stock as i have ordered, RAM was delivered one week later via mail.)

I have bought now the custom desktop pc, novation launchpad, SSL2+ and Roland A800Pro, a midi cable. Everything bought in the last 6 months. For me the hardware shortage is no feelable. But maybe i am buying not the things which are on shortage?

A800 Pro has a very nice keybed ( synth action? ), demoed it in a music store.

I have been a lot more cautions regarding hardware, since the start of the war in Ukraine

if I ordered something from Russia today, it would normally be here in about July anyway. I am not sure this could even slow anything down, at all. I would prefer to order something from Tibet. one of those sherpas and a backpack may be faster.

It would be great if it arrived in July. Unfortunately, very dark times await Russia in the coming years ... this war will change history

You would have to divide the question into private and business.

If it were a question of private consumption, i.e. spending money more or less pointlessly, then i would say yes, it's getting less. i'm becoming more cautious and putting aside additional reserves.

Doing business, however, always requires a positive attitude. If you don't have one, you'll go broke anyway.
There have been catastrophes ever since i can remember, and even a nuclear war was to be feared when i was young.
Nevertheless, i have always behaved and will continue to behave in business as if everything were going on normally.
Business needs to be done as usual, otherwise (if every businessman would be too anxious to do business) this would lead to a self-fullfilling catastrophe.

Nothing, has really changed for me personally.

Prices are back to were they were pre-pandemic now, gasoline cost just under $4 a gallon then and now it's back to where it was. I am sure it will go up, but that's the free market model.

I bought an Antelope Discrete 8 recently on sale from VK and it came with a full version of Bitwig, their modeling mic and decent selection of their effects for a little under $1400 so lower than historical prices and with some free stuff.

As far as outboard hardware and synths the stuff I have can keep me busy for years yet and there isn't really anything exciting out. For synths I am pretty much done till MIDI2 comes out. This is all for personal buys, work buys are a different animal but for the most part prices haven't really jumped there either.

As far world security is concerned, I am in a pretty good place to either be safe or vaporized instantly and thinking about isn't going to change shit. If all does fall apart and WWIII comes even to Mid-Atlantic America it will be like reliving my youth but with nobody telling me what I can and can't do and then I'll either die quickly or have lots of fun doing terrible things reminding a lot of loud people why humans made a social compact and rules to being with.

Just live your life and be good and take care of yourself and other around you, none of these things requires anyone to panic or go sledding down a slippery slope looking for red herrings.

Input devices are mostly hardware (guitar, keyboard, microphone, drum pads), along with a computer and audio interface, but everything else can be digital. To answer the question, I will buy if anything breaks cos music is therapy.
