There's a thread [actually two threads] at KVR in which I complained about using TAL-Sampler as a vintage drum machine due to lack of Akai-like program structure, multi-timbrality, and multiple outputs. Then someone mentioned that it would probably be easier for Patrick to make a TAL-Drum machine based on TAL-Sampler and we all agreed. I guess Patrick might had gotten inspired by that idea and judging by its features I already love it!

So TAL-Sampler will be for making vintage sampler sounds and TAL-Drum for making vintage sampler drum sounds. Fine with me. Kinda like TAL's Kontakt and Battery without the NI bloat! :)

I'm also going to have a play with it. Currently I'm using Speedrum and Sitala for ITB drums in Reaper. They're both great, but this looks really great!

    Cheers!

p.s. it makes me wonder should I still use Akai S3200 for drums...

I've been waiting for either TAL or HY-Plugins to make a drum sampler! I love their plug-ins and have always felt like they've both have been missing a decent drum sampler and/or drum machine. Will try this one out right away

This thing is ugly, like all TAL gear, useful, maybe, but ugly. Actually;y I doubt its usefulness, I don't see anything it brings to the table. I know TAL has mastered a bit of that vintage sound, but many vsts do the same thing..

i've never understood these "they look ugly" arguments... If a plugin looks ugly, how does that effect its usefulness or quality? Acustica plugins look fantastic but arguably are useless... I have been looking for a simple sampler like this forever. I have been using speedrum to get my ideas down for instance, if this is quicker it allows me to input my thought quicker into the computer... which brings a lot to the table for people... but to discredit something becuase of the way it looks is the most immature way to look at this subject... you probably have never used airwindows plugins, but it is the antithesis of your whole thing about plugins being ugly

I watched the video... will be interesting to see if this can replace my serato sample usage.. looks very intriguing and "packed full" of features for each module.

....you are not wrong. I had been on 10.11 for 7+ years and I hated using ultrabeat. Then November last year got the new MBP and stuck with serato sample because I had my own workflow with it presets I made and was comfortable with it like I was with battery 3 back in the day. But now that the new logic has its own sampler I should probably check that out before installing any other sampler.

All I want a sampler to do is have the functionality to time stretch, pitch, adsr each individual module, serato doesnt do this... and I dont think logic can do this either... which blows my mind in 2022, that these are only global functions and cant apply to each individual module

I understand you, but the S series are so good for drums, especially the sampler you mentioned as the S3200XL.

Ok it's longer to do stuff on hardware samplers but the sound is why we use them, so if this TAL drums add good thing to the sound you put in it, why not after all because this is surely way more faster than programming programs on Akaï samplers (and others), at the end it's all about the sound quality you are searching for :like:

a big part of the "external sampler" sound is the desk you run them through. you have a ton more control, because your console functions as almost a Swiss army knife with your sound before it hits the computer. and most likely you are running a hardware compressor on it as well. You can color, overdrive, or whatever else you want.

But when it comes to time, it's not that much worse. if you are using SCSI2SD or just transfers from Recycle, etc. it is really not that bad. Most of the tedious work of the past is already done before you send the sample to the sampler.

it's TAL so of course it is going to sound good! at least I hope, I haven't tried it. but i did try TAL-Sampler and TAL-Dac (beisdes the emulations ofc, which are also amazing) and they seem to be wonderful. im sure a lot of people here agree, i have never seen togu-audio line being hated on here

    thanks for the thread, cheers

Qsampler/DMD is really all you need to do anything you would with any regular other sampler. You won't get rid of Kontakt or Falcon, but you most certainly will del that Serato bs. :)

You nailed it bloke, regarding sound, and it's a workflow I'm kinda used to that gives me a special sound I like. I've got 2 SCSI2SDs, one in Akai and one in Yamaha A5000. Others still have SCSI HDs in them. Those SCSI2SDs are phenomenal. I should buy a couple more.

It being ugly is simply MY observation, MY opinion which I am completely entitled to and actually has validity as many feel that a poor GUI design lends to uninspired work. Ur inference that because I think something is ugly equates it to being useless is the only thing I see as immature here. I use plenty of ugly plugins, but they all have certain usefullness that I cannot find for the price and such. The real argument u should have focused on but u conveniently avoided is simply, what does the plugin bring to the table?
    Work on that, son.

it's similar colors to what Moog used on the GrandMother and Matriarch. The non blacked-out Circus versions of them. They look like they should come with a Monkey to do some act while you play Carnival Music on them. Anyone care? nope. I think the logo is too big maybe, but it's not that ugly.

I wonder why they don't include a sequencer with it, with tools like Atlas, XO and Playbeat having more features in that regard. With that said I'm excited for this regardless. Anyone have it and tried the sample browser, how is it?

You say you have never "understood" these look ugly arguments, You ask how it affects the usefulness or quality.
    As far as "quality" goes...
I will assume you mean sound quality, as opposed to "quality of the experience" in using it.
I do not see how look can affect the actual internal processing of the sound, either.

But i have seen countless criticisms of the look of pluigins affecting their use, both in terms of difficulty with control actions, locating items quickly /efficient workflow, etc.
    Visuals DO affect usefulness.

the main thing this one brings to the table is being able to record audio into from a different bus within your project instead of having to bounce in place or save the file to your computer and load it into the plugin. This appears to be a cheap alternative to battery. What plugins do you use that are ugly?
