Nah, 8 sec is ok. I'm not in a hurry. Normally I start the App work some hours and shut it down again. What's 8 seconds in this case?

btw. I don't think it has so much to do with new VST scanning. It's mostly scanning of .VSTSOUND data. It scans those (132 files in my case) twice when starting up, first if there is a change and second if there's a license on the eLicenser. This takes some seconds. I think it will be quicker in the cracked version and in future legit releases where there is not need for eLc calls.

But there are tricks to load an app faster or to make it appear loading faster.
e.g. no permanent feedback on splash or even no splash screen.
Or you can first preload just the UI of the app and later load and initialize other non-UI parts in the background. But in some cases this means the first seconds the app is not as responsive.
Blackmagic Resolve for instance has an external service scanning for VSTs. This makes the App itself loading faster but the VST scanner in the backgrounds makes the whole system a bit laggy for a minute or so and quite often has hangs.

But that's all a matter of taste and decision of the programmer team. In the end a lot of data needs to be loaded/checked and that just takes time. The one or the other way.
I prefer a splash screen and to load everything in foreground and when the splash screen is gone everything is in place.

I can see a significant performance boost over version 11, some 25-30% better. C12 got optimized very well now, at least on my PC.
I'm on Win 10 21H2 BTW (all legit)

 

I see it too for starting the app. Well done by Steiberg.
And I expect that the performance will be increased by further integration of non-dongle versions of other Steinberg products.
I compared a mixdown of a project with v11 and v12, there are no differences in speed.
(on my PC: i9 10980XE @3GHz, 64GB, NAS(SSD) 10GBit SMB connection Win 10 21H1)
Everything legit.

 

Should we create one of these thread for bugs/fixes/etc for these 2 releases of Cubase? If someone hasn't already done it.

i have cubase pro v10.5 installed and working with no problems on my win10 x64 PC
should i remove it or not if i want to install the new cubase v12

If so, just install v12 and you can use both versions side by side.
Your 10.5 auth on USB Licenser will be rendered "non-upgradable" by the update but you can usee it forever.

P.S.: IDK if the same goes for mixed cracked(legit or both cracked.

Delete the older one because it’s not fully working anyway, but v12 is.

The full Pro version was never fully cracked, in that features are missing or broken, but v12 is. If for some reason you do want to keep, they can live side by side as they are different protection systems.
