(Solved) Wierd error when trying to start Cubase 12 (V.R.)

    I have a problem with this and it is not licensing one.. I am getting a

    "The procedure entry point RtlGetNtSystemRoot could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase12\Cubase.exe.Local\WINTRUST.dll"
    error.

    This terminates the process of launching Cubase.
    I suspect it might be the Win10 version that I'm stuck on is unsupported (1607 LTSB).
    Does anyone else has experienced the same? Any workarounds? (really don't feel like reinstalling Windows all over)

    W10 (1607) is very old, dates back to the 7th month of 2016. You need to update W10, preferably to Windows 10 21H2

    20H2 is version 2004, maybe this version is no longer supported by Steinberg? I remember Ableton claiming something similar with Live 11 release.

    20H2 works fine, installed C12 VR yesterday fine.
    But was my initial thought too.

    If you get a hang on Video Player at start up it's a known issue with Cubase 12 a pain indeed as its happened a fair few times for me.Only way out is to terminate in task manager.

    Had the same problem.
    Solution: 1. rename videoengine.dll to for expl. videoengin.dll in programfiles/steinberg/Cubase 12/components
    2. Delete the userpreferences.xml file in appdata/roaming/steinberg/Cubase 12_64
    now start Cubase 12!:wink:
