    Hi everyone!

In my last post I got some great feedback on what to change in my mix. The main critiques were to work on the drum tones, balance, high-pass and to drop the reverb. I wanted to share the updated mix and solicit any final opinions before sending it for mastering.

Alternatively, here is another song that I've been working on, called "Johanna". Any thoughts on it?

Finally, I feel I must request that responses stay on topic. I am posting on a mixing / mastering forum because I care about the mix and the mix only. Anyone who feels that they want me to change my style of music, performance, hair colour, etc. may be reported, chastised or mocked.

    Much Better

I actually like the track in Creative terms,
It will be long to describe it conceptually,
but it's got a different/interesting approach to structure that I can appreciate..

Is Hikaru Nakamura the Chess player?

    -As for the new track,
the biggest problem that stands out to me, will be that Distorted guitar? sound on the Chorus.. (0:33 etc)

It's not loud, so it's even hard to tell the notes/instrument apart.

But it's like a layer of distorted noise, like a "waterfall" or something,
with a considerable peak/presence on the High freqs..

If the notes/timbre of the instrument was more intelligible, it would be different,
but as it stands it's pretty indistinct, yet it fills a lot of the spectrum/space with those nasty/nasal high freqs.

In fact the peaky freqs are not too different from those the guitars had on the other track,
So it's possible it's coming from the guitar amp/cab itself..

It's as if you were using one of those nasty old-school D.I. cabsims alla Palmer,
or some late 90's-early 00's cab from a Korg/Boss/Zoom/Digitech MFX pedal or something..

I won't criticize much timbric aspects, however,
as part of it can be technical/budget limitations, or even stylistic choices.

And in part it doesn't matter because whatever you're using, it's helping you be productive in creative terms..
(easy to obsess over guitar tone)

But yeah the two biggest elements that could certainly improve are..
Guitar tone (maybe amp, probably cab)
    Drums timbre quality.

Improve those and the sound quality of the entire tracks will improve with them

Thanks! Yes, the chess player, known for quick, aggressive attacks. All of the muffled shouts in the chorus are chess moves.
