I'm going through old productions for demos and I found this; it probably is from 2017 or so. Girl wrote the song and wanted that EDM kinda thing which I don't really do, I'm mostly a classic rock dude.

I like it but I'm not looking at it through a filter of someone really knowledgeable about the style. What do y'all think??

Thanks! That whole side-chain wwhhUUB wwhhUUB thing is a learning curve! I didn't actually side chain it iirc. I found some plugin to do it. Forget what... and probably automated filters.

Here's another good tune I found for comparison, I think 2018. Much more along the lines of what I normally do.

 

That one is fantastic! She has a great voice and you did a great job processing her. The beginning gave me a chill or two. Later in the song, I felt like her lyric was too much to fit and had to rush a bit to fit it all in there. That's not your doing, though.

 

I know, right lol Her songs were all written as poetry. She played guitar a little but she just kind of banged out random chords and nothing matched timing-wise. Giving some of her songs structure was rough.

 

IMO you did a wonderful job working with her. If I could be so lucky. You have great skill and her voice is beautiful!

 

Thanks again! Yeah, she was pitchy and needed a lot of work but when you got it, damn, she had that THING, the x factor. Had the looks too. Not smoking hot by any stretch, just had that THING.
