The trade off for this choice is between 'neutral sound' and 'comfort(ability to wear them for a long time without much pressure on the head and ears). I wanted to go for the m40x for its neutral sound but I have seen quite a number of complaints that it is uncomfortable to wear, I'm guessing the m50x might be about the same. This leaves me with the dt 770 pro. Any vivid experiences using these headphones? Any better suggestions outside this list? The last thing I want is headphones that hurt my ears and doesn't allow me to wear for a long time.

 

trust me when you wear it for extended periods of time the only thing you will think about is comfort , m40x and m50x although really good sounding , they are not comfortable at all and they get super warm

 

m50x are comfortable with replaced leather "ear covers" (dunno how to say it in English) from Aliexpress, the stock ones are a bit too tight on ears. The shape is oval so it might not fit on big long ears. dt 770's shape is round, you can place them on the head and rotate however you like and it will be still comfortable

i had and have tested so many headphones over the last 30 years. between EUR20,- and EUR2000,-.
2 years ago I finally found by far the really best I've ever had. doesnt matter for what. for recording,mixing,mastering or just enjoying music.
i promise you will not be disapointed. read reviews about and search a distributor where you can hear it for test. and they are not expensive.

The DT 990 Pro are the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned. The 770s are basically the same in that respect.

are u sure these will make the m50x comfortable? doesn't the headband add up to the discomfort? also will these change the sound of them50x?

 

I recommend the DT 990 he has the best wearing comfort and sounds great.

Also, not too sure how they will be during the summer, heard the leather can cause sweaty ears. See how it goes.

 

i recommend DT770 with the grey earpads. it's comfortable and doesn't get hot

 

the material of the black ear pad's is different? i can't seem to get the grey one for 32 ohm on amazon tho, was gonna buy the black

I can wear my Sennheiser HD650s for hours. I happened to get a pair off of DROP for very little years ago. SOund quality is great and clear also. But, I'm more of a fan of in ears anyway

 

i bought the ath m50x even though i was worried about comfort based on some reviews. but i figured since i was buying from amazon, i could always return them if i didn't like them. i don't find the ath m50x to be uncomfortable at all. in fact on more than a few occasions i have been sitting at my computer reading an article and all of a sudden i realize i'm still wearing the headphones even though nothing is playing. maybe i just have an ath-shaped head.
