Cosmos ain't AI. Just plain old categorisation from samples names and basic detections like key and tempo. And it takes a shit ton of a time, but scanning in the background is a nice feature. Also don't keep on scrolling down and down else you will run out of memory

If you are an AI fan use Loopcloud, it sometimes tags synth loops as cowbell. Turns out I have quite a big collection of cowbells

I made the decision to buy cr8, that made Cosmos work! It was very cheap also, and I have a lot of Waves that works with medicin :) A little suport from my side.

well sadly, this garbage sucks at even recognizing .wav files in folders... I dont know if there is a file name issue and the files need to be nick_mira_trap_melody_firePluck Am_140bpm.wav long or what. I have many folders where the file names are just numbers and it fails to notice no more than 10 (when theres 150 in the folder) or no files at all... now im just using adsr manager.. what a retarded bug

the sampler does look useful for people with weird DAWS that don't come with proper samplers...

People who say this are completely missing the point.

I've got several "proper" samplers, Kontakt, Ableton's Sampler, TX16Wx and so on.

This one is obviously designed for a quick workflow and it does excel at that. And it's great fun. Just drag a couple of samples into it and you're in business. Yes you can do the same thing in, say Kontakt, but it does take more time. Again, the closest one I can think of is Live's Simpler but this one is like that but on steroids.

Or Apple Logics Quicksampler, Or StudioOnes built in sampler.
Both accept even samples dragged from the arrange.
But they miss the different stretching algorithms and the the freeze mode etc...

drag audio to blank individual channel space -> drum machine designer. it is killer for chopping up breaks. it slices, draws out the midi, creates Qsampler instances and individual mixer strips for all of the slices, inside the summing stack. in like 5 seconds. :)

Ableton does chops like this as well, specify your regions and it creates a MIDI sequence + a drum track for the individual hits. It's great really.

But this plugin is not really a slicing'n'dicing tool. Much more suited for melodic material IMO.

While using it for a couple of minues, I realized:

    1. You need to login to your Waves account to browse your locally stored samples. Why? Fuck Waves for this!
    2. Basically it's a rip-off of XLN Audio XO. And a bad one at that.

Yeah that's why I mentioned them! Same with Autosampler!
    It is also awesome.

CR8, pff, buggy stuff, jumpy knobs, I gave it back and got a refund!
My initial hesitation to spend NO money on waves was correct!

[EDIT] the bugs seams to be fixed now, knobs behave as expected

So far no problems here, if you guys know any VST sampler better than this one for 9 dollars or less, please let me know. I work with Reaper so differently from Live the native sampling workflow is a pain.

Yeah, Cosmos is pretty useless if you got anything else handy. I mean it does the job but not really that well.

    CR8 I like, Cosmos I don't.

have you had any issues with cosmos not being able to find samples? I did, and I contacted waves and they told me the program can only pick up samples greater than 60sec.... which makes no sense because I have a folder of one shots and cosmos picked it up fine. I also have a folder of about 300 chord one shots and cosmos only picked up 10 from that folder

So, after all, what's the conclusion?

I have ADSR Sample Manager. Not bad imo. Is cosmos better iyo?

IMO stick with ADSR. Cosmos had issues poulating samples for me so I steered clear and added my folders to ADSR instead... THEN realized I dont make music with samples and THEN questioned why I spent a whole drunken sunday organizing sample folders I'll rarely use. I just use MPChead samples if anything https://www.patreon.com/mpchead/posts
