Not sure if this is in the right place , im wondering is the a book of studio equipment eg compresors effects etc that gives info on them and what they was used on and best use , got loads of plugs ins that replicate stuff that im trying to learn as im from a keyboard/dj background and good info helps .

 

Two excellent books on the subject are:

The Recording Engineers handbook
The Mixing Engineers handbook

Both are by Bobby Owsinski. I have owned physical copies of these books numerous times, since I started learing about music production. Everytime I would loan them out to friends and artist, they would never come back lol. Both are availabe digitally now. Both books are good, and will help you get a bit of a crash course on the info you are looking for, and more indepth info, when youre intrested.

Also both books are updated every few years, so they are up to date with newer tech being mentioned as well.
