    Arturia is a company who's synths I wouldn't use if they comped me licenses, because I am put off by their art deparment. Give me a damn gray rectangle with knobs and get out of here with the gigabyte of bitmaps.

    This is the absolute truth. I got it for free at the time. We have rented a large space for an art-studio. It was located on the territory of a closed Soviet factory. In the neighboring building, the guys also composed music, they had a lot of money and they constantly bought both new items and vintage classics of audio hardware. For example, they had several Space Echo(201, 301), not a weak collection of Buchla and much more. Once I went to chat with them and left with a gift, it was a "useless" Elsita)

    The list of synth emulations in that first post is in the hundreds, with dozens of categories... how do you think polling on that would help? Most of the polls would likely just be empty or with low # of votes. It would be great if everyone actually voted on them though. I'd say if you're looking for ideas, probably would be best to just look through the comments.. or have an idea of what synth you have in mind, and look in the first post for some ideas.

    Sounds like this thread could end up with more than a hundred pages. So after it's a sticky, just put the top 20 emulated synths then in poll form just so we can vote on what we like the best, and for the lazy people like me to quickly at a glance learn about possible new synths to track down. is that a decent compromise?

    Yeah that would make more sense, for sure. A little subjective as to even what the top 20 are, but not too hard to narrow down to a decent enough list, and definitely a lot better than voting on hundreds. :like:

    Why Cherry's 2600 over Korg's?

    I didn't know Korg made a software 2600.
    I just looked on their website and don't find it.
    Do you have a link?

    Maybe confusing ARP 2600 and the ARP Odyssey. Korg does have a VSTi emulation for the latter.

    Cherry Audio synths all sound kind of similar. But Cherry Audio's MS-20 sounds very authentic. Better than Korg's own MS-20 emu. Watching this company for what they release next.

    @OBKenobi
    Yeah, I've demoed or bought all of the Cherry Audio emulations, except the voltage modulator one. That PS-20 is very impressive sounding. I don't own that one just yet, but that was probably going to be the next one I picked up. It has some pretty wild sounds to it. I'm not very familiar with the MS-20 though to know how it compares, however (and will watch that video, just to see).

    ohhh okay, i thought you called it useless. It looks quite cool, different. maybe they compared it to rolands stuff at the time? Was probably hard to get Roland stuff at that time? Idk.

    No, it was 10 years ago) they've had original 707, 808 and 909. But had no clue that elsita is a gem. It became popular 4 years ago. same story with polyvoks, 25 years ago you could buy it in ex-USSR countries for almost nothing(from 5 bottles of vodka to 100$).

    Yamaha TX16W sampler - Sonic Charge Cyclone
    https://soniccharge.com/forum/topic/433-a-blast-from-the-past
    "Cyclone is a true low-level hardware emulator. It simulates all the important circuits of the Yamaha TX16W, including the main 68000 CPU, the proprietary Yamaha DSP circuits, the 12-bit sample memory and the 400kHz non-linear DACs. Cyclone not only looks like a real TX16W, it sounds like a real TX16W and it runs the exact same software as a real TX16W."
