Hi all. I'm hoping you geniuses have a workaround for this old familiar problem (for me anyway). I tried to find the I.P. in Lulu but couldn't work it out. Is there a way to stop this happening? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.I keep deleting all trace of Serum in my system (Big Sur) but the problem keeps coming back.

Block the associated domains in your Hosts file.

How do I do that please? I've heard this said before but don't get what or who is meant by host. Thanks a lot for helping.

Here is some copy/pasting..... just remember you will need the correct domains to block your computer from communicating with. (I am legit serum owner and cannot help you with that) or someone else can tell you.:)

You need to reboot your computer before the changes will go into effect.

    The Hosts file
The Domain Name System and its associated cache is your Mac's standard way of knowing how to get to where it's going on the Internet, but there's another file that can be very useful. It's called the Hosts file, and it can be used to override the default DNS information.

    Edit Hosts File

    1. Open the Terminal application. You may either type Terminal in the Spotlight search or by navigating to Applications , then the Utilities folder, then click on the Terminal app.
    2. Open the hosts file for editing. In the terminal window you just opened copy/paste the command string below, and press return.
sudo nano /private/etc/hosts or sudo nano /etc/hosts on newer MacOS.
    3. Enter your password when it prompts you to enter your Mac user’s password.
NOTE: you will not see the cursor move. This is normal, simply enter your password and press the Return when done.
    4. Edit the hosts file by adding these two lines to the bottom of the file.
      SERVER_IP_ADDRESS domain.com
      SERVER_IP_ADDRESS www.domain.com
For example, it should look like:

      86.75.30.9 domain.com
      86.75.30.9 www.domain.com
NOTE: Be sure to replace domain.com with your actual domain name. If you are not sure which IP address to use, please contact our Support Department for further assistance.

WARNING: Be sure that there is a space between the IP and the URL. Otherwise, the rule will not work.
    5. Save your changes by pressing control-o on your keyboard then return to accept the filename. Exit the editor by pressing control-x. This takes you back to the terminal screen.
    6. You may need to flush your Mac’s DNS cache, so copy/paste the below command string into terminal, and press return: dscacheutil -flushcache. You may have to add sudo to this command, for example: sudo dscacheutil -flushcacheb.

Thank you SO much clone. This is brilliant, I'm not too bad at using terminal so I think I can do this with your great help. I'd pay for Serum but just don't have the money :like: :bleh: .

serum doesnt need internet connection to timebomb and direct you to the website, the behavior is internally coded in the plugin

The rent to own option is a good way to go with serum - I had similar problems to you before and decided $9.99 a month or wjatever it is now wasn't too bad and now I think I'm 3 or 4 months away from owning it outright. If you're interested check out Splice.
