I have logic pro X and a Scarlett audio interface. I want channels in my mixer that are set to outputs 3-4 to only play through channel 3-4.

Because Logic Pro X is a buggy pile of junk, it keeps playing my channels set to output 3-4 through outputs 1-2! Why won't it do what I tell it to do.

Hello Illogic X - if I tell you the output for a channel is 3-4, do not play it through channel 1-2!

Do you mean that you want to send some tracks to outputs 3 and 4 of your interface? I would suspect there is some routing you need to do in Mix Control in that case. I haven't used Mix Control for many years now so I can't help you with the specifics though.

yeah, Logic is not the buggy POS. It is the Focusrite software that is. The Scarlett MK2+ use Focusrite Control, not Mix Control. It's different junk software than Mix Control, which is also junk.

Make a template project in Logic. Set it up whatever way you want once. When you start working open your template.

Okay! The one I was using long ago was a 18i20 mk1 so I have no experience using Focusrite Control. I'm glad I only have to deal with RME Totalmix FX (which is a blessing!) :)

It's most probably a routing you have to program on the Scarlett mix program.
You don't mention the exact model of your Scarlett interface, and depending of the model there are 2 different mix programs, but this is where you chose the routing of the outputs.

Mix control was used for older Scarlett interfaces. It's not intuitive at all, but once you get into it, it works.
I've been doing 5 different mixes at the same time for recording live with 5 musicians, and it worked well.
The new program seems quite similar to the old one in that aspect. And once you've prepared a mix, you can save it for further recall.

    From the menu bar, select:

Mix > IO Assignments > Output

If your Audio Interface has more than 1 physical Stereo Output, you can select it there.

To use logic this way you need to use the i/o interface plugin to send audio as send and return to different outputs . Works perfectly fine this way and any latency can be offset with the ping button which analyses the latency time for logic to the hardware . I run a few soundcards as a aggregate device Scarlett 18i20 , adat , behringer 1820 , adat , Roland efx modules (4) as sends and returns There all set up as one device and with the I/o interface I can send audio to any output and return it to any input as I run a lot of outboard gear this way . If I want to use outboard eq , compressor/limiter , fx I just insert the I/o plugin on that track as a send and return to what ever I want to use .

I honestly forget which "Special Feature for only Logic Users" that was finally the straw that broke the camels back. but I think it may have been this one.

So you can't just send a track directly to outputs 3/4 of Focusrite Control/Interface control software without using this plug-in?

In mix control you set up your Ins/outs and In logic you set up a track and insert the I/o plugin . Set the output 3/4 in 3/4 . So whatever you send to your mixer will come back to logic on that input but will play audio through output 1/2 which is your main output .

Okay. But OP wanted to send the audio from a track in Logic to outputs 3/4 on his interface and didn't want it to play through outputs 1/2 at all. Or that's how I understood it anyways! I'm no Logic user so I can't test it myself, I just chimed in because I've used Scarlett interfaces in the past.

In logic the only other way to send audio out to another output is to use the i/o plugin to send audio back and forth . The other option if you want to hear what’s coming out output 1/2 out 3/4 is in the output setting in logic select mirror output 1/2 to 3/4. But logic will always bounce through output 1/2
