Ryzen 9 5900X comes with 12 cores and 24 threads. Aside from its bruising performance in applications, it's even faster than the 5950X in gaming, even beating out Intel's overclocked flagships at 1080p, too.

If money no issue would go for 5950X, you have 16 cores and 32threads (thats freaking many for Music production). And i guess the single core performance aint that different?

You can also look on cpubenchmarks:

Zen 5 is too long to wait. Zen 4 would be the best trade-off right now for those who can hold on until later in the year.

Exactly wait and then Black Friday - you can save a lot of money.

Discontinued models are always the cheapest.

but the 8350 was only 180€ as it was introduced, so it has aged in terms of price very well. Its almost 10 year since it was released.

I paid 146 € and I still use it. It looks like I'll be using it for the rest of my life.

    Hi,

Well i have the AMD 5950x and for now its an overkill, when stress testing the CPU it never exceeds 44% while the Asio Drivers go nuts and crackling occurs even @ 2048 Samples hahahaha. Latency will be more a problem then lack of CPU Power. But it runs so Smooth with Cubase 11 Pro! its amazing how it spreads the load over the cores. While Reason 11 is truly bad as the CPU gets hit very hard with little plugins. But within Cubase so far i can load unlimited plugins and put them all in oversampling.......... Cheers
